Mexican National Championship Of Badminton
The Mexican National Championship of Badminton is a nationwide competition of badminton held in Mexico since 1933. This tournament was initially organised by the then ''"Asociación Mexicana de Badminton"'', together with the Centro Deportivo Chapultepec AC.''Annual Handbook of the International Badminton Federation'', London, 29. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racket (sports equipment), racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net (device), net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. The Mexican Open or Mexico International is an international badminton competition held in Mexico. The Mexican Open has been held together with the Mexican National Championship of Badminton which main difference is that foreign players can participate in the former competition, while the latter is just reserved for Mexican badminton players. The original intention was that both tournaments would be held annually; however, due to different circumstances it has not always been this the case. The first tournament was organised by the Mexican Association of Badminton and the Centro Deportivo Chapultepec in 1949 as the Mexico City International Tournament; there were four more editions held in 1952, 1958, 1959 and 1961.Herbert A. Roy Díaz González (born 1953) is a former world-class badminton player from Mexico. Something of a child prodigy in the sport, González began touring internationally at fourteen, the age at which he captured the first of his many Mexican national singles titles. He won the Belgian International men's doubles title at fifteen and the Swiss Open men's singles title at sixteen. By his late teens, in the early 1970s, González was competitive with the world's best players, but he never developed the penetrating power, or the deceptive wizardry, which might have allowed him to break through in badminton's biggest events. Victoria Montero
Victoria Montero (born Victoria Eugenia Montero Enríquez; 25 August 1991) is a Mexican athlete who competes in badminton. In 2010, she participated at the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games where she won the gold medal in the singles, doubles and team competitions as well as the bronze medal at the mixed competition. In 2011, she participated at the Pan American Games where she won the bronze medal at the singles competition.
