AN/CPS-1
The AN/CPS-1, also known as the Microwave Early Warning (MEW) radar, was a semi-mobile, S band, early-warning radar developed by the MIT Radiation Laboratory during World War II. It was one of the first projects attempted by the Lab and was intended to build equipment to transition from the British long-wave radar to the new microwave centimeter-band radar made possible by the cavity magnetron. The project was led by Luis Walter Alvarez. Deployed to the European Theater in 1944, the MEW proved to be an extremely effective radar against German V-1 flying bombs and V-2 rockets. After the war, the AN/CPS-1 was adopted for use by civil aviation becoming the first radar used to track aircraft on civil air routes in the United States. A MOO ("MUD, object-oriented") is a text-based online virtual reality system to which multiple users (players) are connected at the same time. The term MOO is used in two distinct, but related, senses. One is to refer to those programs descended from the original MOO server, and the other is to refer to any MUD that uses object-oriented techniques to organize its database of objects, particularly if it does so in a similar fashion to the original MOO or its derivatives. Mewing (facial Restructuring Technique)
Mewing is an unproven form of oral posture training purported to improve jaw and facial structure. It was named after Mike and John Mew, British orthodontists who created the technique as a part of a practice called " orthotropics". It involves placing one's tongue at the roof of the mouth and applying pressure, to change the structure of the jaws. No credible scientific research has ever proven the efficacy of orthotropics, and most orthodontists do not view mewing as a viable alternative treatment to orthognathic surgery. Mike Mew was expelled from the British Orthodontic Society and faced a misconduct hearing for posing harm to child patients who underwent his treatments. In 2024, Mew was struck from the dental register in the United Kingdom. Mew Island
Mew Island Lighthouse is an active lighthouse within the Copeland Islands of County Down in Northern Ireland. The current 19th-century tower is the most recent in a series of lighthouses that have been built in the islands, which have helped to guide shipping around the archipelago and into Belfast Lough. A number of different fuels, including coal gas, paraffin, and diesel, have been used to power the lighthouse. In 2015, the Commissioners of Irish Lights, who operate the lighthouse, replaced the hyperradiant Fresnel lens optic with a flashing LED system that uses only solar power. This large optic was then preserved and is now on display in the Titanic Quarter of Belfast as a visitor attraction known as ''The Great Light''. is a female vocal released for Vocaloid 3. Her sampled voice is provided by Japanese female singer Miu Sakamoto. Development Mew was first featured on the CD "THE VOCALOIDS" and sang the song "LINE," by Yuyoyuppe. Her cover art was revealed on September 13, 2011. The vocal was released on September 30, 2011 along with the vocal packages SeeU, V3 Megpoid and VY1v3, making her one of the first four Vocaloid 3 releases offered for that version of Vocaloid. The original version of Mew was discontinued from sale on April 20, 2013. The package was replaced with a re-release called "Mew SE". In 2013, a Mac version of Mew called "Mew NEO" was released.
