Metrolina
The Charlotte metropolitan area is a metropolitan area of the U.S. states of North and South Carolina, containing the city of Charlotte, North Carolina. The metropolitan area also includes the cities of Gastonia, Concord, Huntersville, and Rock Hill as well as the large suburban area in the counties surrounding Mecklenburg County, which is at the center of the metro area. Located in the Piedmont, it is the largest metropolitan area in the Carolinas, and the fourth largest in the Southeastern United States. The Charlotte metropolitan area is one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the United States. Metrolina Native American Association
The Metrolina Native American Association (MNAA) is a Native American community association in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. MNAA is a North Carolina state-recognized Urban Indian Center. Incorporated in January 1976 by local Native Americans as a non-profit education advocacy group, the MNAA and has grown to encompass child care, employment, and age-based community programs. It is the second oldest Urban Indian Center in North Carolina. The organization serves over 10,000 Native Americans in Mecklenburg and the surrounding counties. Metrolina Regional Scholars' Academy
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (abbreviated CMS) is a local education agency headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina and is the public school system for Mecklenburg County. With over 147,000 students enrolled, it is the second-largest school district in North Carolina and the eighteenth-largest in the nation. The system is best known nationally for its role as the respondent in the landmark 1971 Supreme Court decision ''Swann'' v. ''Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools''. Metrolina Speedway
Metrolina Speedway was an auto racing track located in northeast Charlotte, North Carolina on the Metrolina Fairgrounds. History The track, also known as Charlotte Fairgrounds Speedway', was 1/2 mile (.804 km) in length and had a clay surface. It was paved for a short time in the 1970s to allow the NASCAR circuit to hold races there. Many racers have raced at Metrolina Speedway, including Dale Earnhardt Sr., Brad Teague, and Harry Gant. It is one of many racetracks in the Metrolina region of North Carolina and South Carolina. In 2009, plans were announced to reopen the track as the Metrolina Speed and Sport Center. The track was to be repaved and the plans included a Go-Kart track, outdoor RC racing track, a hotel, and roof-top skate park but the proposal failed to move forward. The Metrolina Theatre Association (MTA) is a non-profit organization based in Charlotte, North Carolina, US, established in 1985 to strengthen arts awareness and to be an advocate of the performing arts in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg region. MTA represents more than 70 organizations and hundreds of theatrical artists, directors and producers in the Charlotte region.
