''Metal Works'' is a compilation album by English heavy metal band Judas Priest, released in April 1993. A remastered edition was released in 2001, with the same track listing. All material was previously available. All albums to that date are represented with the exception of their debut, '' Rocka Rolla'', although a live version of "Victim of Changes" (from '' Unleashed in the East'', with what appears to be an American sounding audience dubbed on at the end, instead of the familiar Japanese one from the album version) is used rather than the studio version on '' Sad Wings of Destiny''. This is because the band no longer owns the rights to their first two albums. The band selected the tracks themselves, and made comments in the sleeve-notes. As an album it showcases versatility of their musical career. Judas Priest
Judas Priest are an English heavy metal band formed in Birmingham in 1969. They have sold over 50 million albums and are frequently ranked as one of the greatest metal bands of all time. Judas Priest have also been referred to as one of the pioneers of the new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM) movement, and are cited as a formative influence on various metal subgenres, including speed metal, thrash metal, and power metal, as well as the hard rock/glam metal scene of the 1980s. ''Nostradamus'' is the sixteenth studio album by the English heavy metal band Judas Priest, focusing on the 16th-century writer Nostradamus. It is a double album and a concept album. Initially planned for release in late 2006, the album's launch was postponed to 2007 before it was ultimately released on 16 June 2008 on Epic Records. It marks the last Judas Priest studio album featuring the ''Painkiller''-era lineup, as guitarist and founding member K. K. Downing retired in April 2011. To promote ''Nostradamus'', Judas Priest toured with Motörhead, Heaven & Hell, and Testament on the Metal Masters Tour. The band also embarked on a world tour in 2008 and 2009 in support of the album. "Painkiller" is a song by English heavy metal music, heavy metal band Judas Priest, released in 1990; it was later released as a single on Columbia Records. It is off the band's twelfth Painkiller (Judas Priest album), album of the same name as the opening track''.'' Al Atkins
Alan John Atkins (born 14 October 1947) is an English heavy metal vocalist, best known for being the original lead vocalist and founder of Judas Priest. Biography Atkins formed what would become Judas Priest in 1969. With a wife and young daughter to support, Atkins was forced to drop out of Judas Priest "to get a 9-to-5 job" in May 1973. Atkins' position as lead vocalist was succeeded by Rob Halford. With Atkins out of the group, no founding members of the band remained (original members Brian "Bruno" Stapenhill, and John Partridge had left the band in 1970, and John Perry committed suicide in 1969). Atkins received writing credits on the first two Judas Priest albums '' Rocka Rolla'' and '' Sad Wings of Destiny''. "Victim of Changes" is a song by English heavy metal band Judas Priest, featured on their 1976 studio album '' Sad Wings of Destiny''. Adrien Begrand, writing for ''PopMatters'', claimed the song changed the course of metal history. Vocalist Rob Halford's performance is considered one of his finest ever. Glenn Tipton
Glenn Raymond Tipton (born 25 October 1947) is an English guitarist. Often noted for his complex playing style and classically influenced solos, he is best known as one of the lead guitarists for the Heavy metal music, heavy metal band Judas Priest. He is the second longest-serving member of the band, after bassist Ian Hill. Tipton and Hill are the only two members of the band who have appeared on every studio album. Early life Tipton was born on 25 October 1947, in Blackheath, West Midlands, Blackheath, Staffordshire, to Olive and Doug Tipton. ''Point of Entry'' is the seventh studio album by English heavy metal band Judas Priest, released on 27 February 1981 by Columbia Records. Following the commercial success of their previous album '' British Steel'' (1980), Priest pursued a more radio-friendly direction on ''Point of Entry''. Following the conclusion of the British Steel Tour, the band began work on their next project. By this time, the band possessed sufficient funds to fly all their equipment to the state-of-the-art Ibiza Studios in Spain. ''Defenders of the Faith'' is the ninth studio album by English heavy metal band Judas Priest, released on 13 January 1984 in the US and on 20 January 1984 in the UK. The album was certified platinum by the RIAA, and spawned the singles " Freewheel Burning", " Some Heads Are Gonna Roll", and "Love Bites". Recording and release ''Defenders of the Faith'' was recorded at Ibiza Sound Studios, Ibiza, Spain, and mixed at DB Recording Studios and Bayshore Recording Studios in Coconut Grove, Miami, Florida. ''Sin After Sin'' is the third studio album by English heavy metal band Judas Priest, released on 8 April 1977 by Columbia Records, and on 22 April in the UK, by CBS Records. ''Killing Machine'' (also known as ''Hell Bent for Leather'') is the fifth studio album by English heavy metal band Judas Priest, released in November 1978, by CBS Records internationally, and received a United States release on 28 February 1979, by Columbia Records.
