Haplogroup U4 (mtDNA)
Haplogroup U is a human mitochondrial DNA haplogroup (mtDNA). The clade arose from haplogroup R, likely during the early Upper Paleolithic. Its various subclades (labelled U1–U9, diverging over the course of the Upper Paleolithic) are found widely distributed across Northern and Eastern Europe, Central, Western and South Asia, as well as North Africa, the Horn of Africa, and the Canary Islands. Origins Haplogroup U descends from the haplogroup R mtDNA branch of the phylogenetic tree. The defining mutations (A11467G, A12308G, G12372A) are estimated to have arisen between 43,000 and 50,000 years ago, in the early Upper Paleolithic (around 46,530 ± 3,290 years before present, with a 95% confidence interval per Behar et al., 2012). Ancient DNA classified as belonging to the U* mitochondrial haplogroup has been recovered from human skeletal remains found in Western Siberia, which have been dated to c. 45,000 years ago. The mitogenome (33-fold coverage) of the Peştera Muie ...

U4 Spliceosomal RNA
The U4 small nuclear Ribo-Nucleic Acid (U4 snRNA) is a non-coding RNA component of the major or U2-dependent spliceosome – a eukaryotic molecular machine involved in the splicing of pre-messenger RNA (pre-mRNA). It forms a duplex with U6 spliceosomal RNA, U6, and with each splicing round, it is displaced from the U6 snRNA (and the spliceosome) in an ATP-dependent manner, allowing U6 to re-fold and create the active site for RNA splicing, splicing catalysis. A recycling process involving protein Brr2 releases U4 from U6, while protein Prp24 re-anneals U4 and U6. The crystal structure of a 5′ stem-loop of U4 in complex with a binding protein has been solved. Biological role The U4 snRNA has been shown to exist in a number of different formats including: bound to proteins as a small nuclear Ribo-Nuclear Protein snRNP, involved with the U6 snRNA in the di-snRNP, as well as involved with both the U6 snRNA and the U5 snRNA in the tri-snRNP. The different formats have been propose ...

U4 (Munich U-Bahn)
The Munich U-Bahn () is an Railway electrification system, electric rail Rapid transit, rapid transit network in Munich, Germany. The system began operation in 1971, and is operated by the municipally owned Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG; Munich Transport Company). The network is integrated into the Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund (MVV; Munich Transport and Tariff Association) and interconnected with the Munich S-Bahn. The U-Bahn currently comprises eight lines, serving 96 stations (100 stations if four interchange stations with separate levels for different lines are counted twice), and encompassing of routes. Alongside the S-Bahn, the Munich subway is the most important means of local public transport in Munich. Since the opening of the first line on October 19, 1971, a network with 95 km of track and 96 stops has been built, to which the neighboring town of Garching near Munich is also connected and in future also the Planegg district of Martinsried (both in the dist ...

U4 (Frankfurt U-Bahn)
The B Line is the second line in the network of the Frankfurt U-Bahn, running in a west–east direction from the central railway station (''Hauptbahnhof'') through the old town to Konstablerwache, where it splits into two branches to Bornheim (served by the U4) and Preungesheim (served by the U5). Originally planned as an independent main line, part of the D Line forms an extension of U4 to Bockenheimer Warte from the central railway station. Route The B line can be divided into three sections: the trunk line used by the U4 and U5 between the central railway station (Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof) and Konstablerwache and the two branches which the line splits into at its eastern end. Konstablerwache - Hauptbahnhof Below the subterranean shopping arcade under the station forecourt is the four-track underground station at Hauptbahnhof, which was built as a shared station for the B and D lines. It has two island platforms, which according to long-term planning are to be used for cross ...

U4 (Hamburg U-Bahn)
The U4 is a line of the Hamburg U-Bahn, which opened in 2012, serving 12 stations. It is the shortest line of the network, with a length of and from Jungfernstieg to Billstedt it shares tracks with the U2. Its identifying colour, as seen on route maps, trains, and station signs is . Route The U4 is the newest line of the Hamburg U-Bahn and the first line that is to form as a branch of an older, existing line. It shares the U2's tracks from Billstedt to the major transfer station Jungfernstieg, located in the city center, branching off before the station and stopping at the outer tracks of the four-platform station. It then traverses under the Neustadt in a far-swinging 180° bend and reaches the newly built Überseequartier station in HafenCity after about . The following station, HafenCity Universität lies about to the east in the Elbtorquartier. On 7 December 2018 the line was extended eastward, to a new terminus at Elbbrücken, allowing for a future S-Bahn connection ...

U4 (Berlin U-Bahn)
The U4 is a line of the Berlin U-Bahn in Germany that is the shortest in Berlin's U-Bahn system, with a length of . Opened in 1910, the U4 serves five stations, all of which are step-free: it is also the only subway line in Berlin to have never been extended and the only one to have no night service on weekends. In 1903, Schöneberg, an independent city that as south-west of the municipal limits of Berlin, planned to develop an underground railway line to improve public transportation. As the line promised less profit for private investors (all Berlin U-Bahn lines had until then been built with private capital), negotiations with the (Berlin Elevated Railway Company, the operator of Berlin U-Bahn) were unsuccessful. That made Schöneberg start to build the line itself on 8 December 1908. Two years later, the construction was finished, and on 1 December 1910, the line was put into operation. Although Schöneberg owned the track, upon the line's opening, the city handed operation ...

Unemployment
Unemployment, according to the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), is the proportion of people above a specified age (usually 15) not being in paid employment or self-employment but currently available for work during the reference period. Unemployment is measured by the unemployment rate, which is the number of people who are unemployed as a percentage of the labour force (the total number of people employed added to those unemployed). Unemployment can have many sources, such as the following: * the status of the economy, which can be influenced by a recession * competition caused by globalization and international trade * new technologies and inventions * policies of the government * regulation and market * war, civil disorder, and natural disasters Unemployment and the status of the economy can be influenced by a country through, for example, fiscal policy. Furthermore, the monetary authority of a country, such as the central bank, can in ...

U-47700
U-47700, also known as U4, pink heroin, pinky, and pink, is an opioid analgesic drug developed by a team at Upjohn in the 1970s which has around 7.5 times the potency of morphine in animal models. U-47700 is a structural isomer of the earlier opioid AH-7921 and the result of a great deal of work elucidating the quantitative structure–activity relationship of the scaffold. Upjohn looked for the key moiety (chemistry), moieties which gave the greatest activity and posted over a dozen patents on related compounds, each optimizing one moiety until they discovered that U-47700 was the most active. U-47700 became the lead compound of selective kappa-opioid receptor ligands such as U-50488, U-51754 (containing a pyrrolidine rather than a dimethylamine substituent) and U-69,593, which share very similar structures. Although not used medically, the selective kappa ligands are used in research. Pharmacology U-47700 is an agonist of the μ-opioid receptor (Ki ) and possesses significant ...
