''The Office'' is a British sitcom that was originally broadcast by the BBC in the United Kingdom from 2001 to 2003 as the original series of ''The Office''. The television programme was created and written by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant; the former also played the main character, manager David Brent. The series is set in the Slough office of a fictional paper merchant, Wernham Hogg, and is presented in a mockumentary format depicting the everyday lives of its employees. Brent tries to be a friend and an entertainer as well as a boss, and is often annoying as a result. Ewen Douglas MacIntosh (25 December 1973 – 19 February 2024) was a Welsh actor known for his role as Keith Bishop in '' The Office'' (2001–2003). Early life MacIntosh was born in Merionethshire, Wales on 25 December 1973. He was educated at Repton School in Derbyshire, and studied linguistics at the University of Edinburgh. While at university, he was actively involved in the Edinburgh University Theatre Company and The Improverts. Career MacIntosh's big break in television came when he was cast as deadpan accountant Keith Bishop in '' The Office''. He also appeared on various shows such as '' Miranda'' and '' Little Britain''. Film look (also known as filmizing or film-look) is a process in which video is altered in overall appearance to appear to have been shot on film stock. The process is usually electronic, although filmizing can sometimes occur as an unintentional by-product of some optical techniques, such as telerecording. DVD region codes are a digital rights management technique introduced in 1997. It is designed to allow rights holders to control the international distribution of a DVD release, including its content, release date, and price, all according to the appropriate region.
