Mercè Rodoreda Award
The Mercè Rodoreda Award for stories and narrations, officially and in Catalan Premi Mercè Rodoreda is a literary award in the Catalan language convened by Òmnium Cultural and the Fundació Enciclopèdia Catalana and published by Edicions Proa. Initially called the Víctor Català Award, which was awarded for the first time in 1953, in 1998 it changed its name to become the current Mercè Rodoreda Award for stories and narratives. Works of original and unpublished stories or narratives, written in Catalan, are eligible for the prize. Its delivery takes place during the L''iterary Night of Santa Llúcia'' during the month of December. The prize has an endowment of 6,000 euros. Catalan Language
Catalan (; autonym: , ), known in the Valencian Community and Carche as '' Valencian'' ( autonym: ), is a Western Romance language. It is the official language of Andorra, and an official language of three autonomous communities in eastern Spain: Catalonia, the Valencian Community, and the Balearic Islands. Isabel-Clara Simó
Isabel-Clara Simó i Monllor (4 April 1943 – 13 January 2020) was a Spanish journalist and writer. She is considered one of the most important writers in the Catalan language. Simó was awarded several prizes, including the Premi Sant Jordi in 1993. As a journalist, she was the director of Canigó magazine and had a daily column in the newspaper Avui. She was a delegate of the Culture Department of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Biography Isabel-Clara Simó was BSc+MSc on Philosophy for the Universitat de València and Journalism, and PhD on Romance Philology. She taught at Bunyol and afterwards at the IES Ramon Muntaner of Figueres, a town where her kids were born, and at the IES Sant Josep de Calasanç of Barcelona. She turned to journalism in 1972 as a director of the weekly ''Canigó'' and collaborated on a regular basis in several media. Xavier Romeu Matta is a counselor and litigator, with expertise in securities litigation and regulation, and corporate, commercial and employment litigation. Jaume Cabré i Fabré (; born 1947) is a Catalan philologist, novelist and screenwriter. He was one of the founders of the Catalan literary collective, ''Ofèlia Dracs''. He was born in Terrassa.
