Melanie Thornton
Melanie Janene Thornton (May 13, 1967 – November 24, 2001) was an American pop and dance music singer. She was the lead singer of the Eurodance group La Bouche from 1994 to 1999, alongside American rapper and backing vocalist Lane McCray. Their two most successful singles, " Sweet Dreams" and " Be My Lover", were released in 1994 and 1995 respectively. After leaving the group, Thornton began a solo career and found success, primarily in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland before her death in November 2001. Her solo songs include "Love How You Love Me", "Heartbeat", "Makin' Oooh Oooh (Talking About Love)" and " Wonderful Dream (Holidays Are Coming)". On the night of November 24, 2001, shortly after her final performance in Leipzig, Thornton was among the 24 people that died in the crash of Swiss airline's Crossair Flight 3597 in Bassersdorf, Switzerland. Passion Fruit was a German-Dutch Eurodance trio. The first-generation line-up was formed with Blade (Manye Thompson), Dawn (Viola Schubbe), Pearl (Carla Sinclair), and MC Steve (Mario Zuber). The second generation was formed with Dutch singers Nathalie van het Ende and Debby St. Maarten and German singer María Serrano Serrano. It was released by X-Cell Records on 7 May 2001, in German-speaking Europe after Thornton's departure as the lead vocalist of the Eurodance music duo La Bouche. Franz Reuther (18 July 1941 – 23 January 2024), known professionally as Frank Farian, was a German record producer and singer who founded the 1970s disco-pop group Boney M., the pop band No Mercy, and the pop band Milli Vanilli. He frequently created vocal groups in which the publicised members merely lip-synced to songs sung by session performers. Farian owned the record label MCI and several subsidiaries.
