Meet Me In Las Vegas
''Meet Me in Las Vegas'' is a 1956 American musical comedy film directed by Roy Rowland, filmed in Eastman Color and CinemaScope, and starring Dan Dailey and Cyd Charisse. The film was tailored for the talents of Charisse, showcasing her skills with modern and classical ballet. It was produced by Joe Pasternak for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Roy Rowland (film Director)
Roy Rowland (December 31, 1910 – June 29, 1995) was an American film director. He directed a number of films in the 1950s and 1960s including ''Our Vines Have Tender Grapes'', ''Meet Me in Las Vegas'', ''Rogue Cop'', ''The 5000 Fingers of Doctor T'', and ''The Girl Hunters (film), The Girl Hunters''. Rowland married Ruth Cummings, the niece of Louis B. Mayer and sister of Jack Cummings (director), Jack Cummings (MGM producer/director). Sands Hotel
The Sands Hotel and Casino was a historic hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, United States, that operated from 1952 to 1996. Designed by architect Wayne McAllister, with a prominent high sign, the Sands was the seventh resort to open on the Strip. During its heyday, it hosted many famous entertainers of the day, most notably the Rat Pack and Jerry Lewis. The hotel was established in 1952 by Mack Kufferman, who bought the LaRue Restaurant which had opened a year earlier. The hotel was opened on December 15, 1952, as a casino and hotel with 200 rooms. The hotel rooms were divided into four two-story motel wings, each with fifty rooms, and named after famous race tracks. Pietro Rugolo (December 25, 1915 – October 16, 2011), known professionally as Pete Rugolo, was an American jazz composer, arranger, and record producer. Life and career Rugolo was born in San Piero Patti, Sicily. His family emigrated to the United States in 1920 and settled in Penngrove, California. He began his career in music playing the baritone horn, like his father, but he quickly branched out into other instruments, notably the French horn and the piano. He received a bachelor's degree from San Francisco State College and then went on to study composition with Darius Milhaud at Mills College in Oakland, California, and earn his master's degree.
