The song was released under Ambitiouz Entertainment just a week before the release of the album ''Manando,'' and received good reviews from critics as it exposed a more musical and mature side or the rapper. The track was produced by multi platinum selling producer Christer and Ron Epidemic and features Nigerian superstar Tiwa Savage. Background "Me and You" was initially created for Emtee's former label mates, B3nchMarQ. The song leaked on local blog site, Zkhiphani.com with verses from the rap duo featuring Emtee, but after legal threats from Ambitiouz Entertainment, it was then taken down. Mthembeni Ndevu, better known by his stage name Emtee (stylized as eMTee) is a South African rapper. He was born in Matatiele and grew up in Rockville, Soweto, where he was involved in talent shows. His career began at the age of 17 and his debut hit single, " Roll Up" was released in 2015 to critical acclaim. Tiwa Savage (born 5 February 1980) is a Nigerian singer-songwriter and performing artist. Born in Isale Eko, she relocated to London at the age of 11 for her secondary education. Five years later, she began her music career doing backup vocals for artists such as George Michael and Mary J. Blige. After participating in the UK edition of '' The X Factor'' and graduating from Berklee College of Music, Savage signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in 2009.
