Angus McLagan
Angus McLagan (1891 – 4 September 1956) was a New Zealand politician of the Labour Party. He was a member of the Legislative Council and later Member of Parliament for Riccarton. He was a cabinet minister from 1942 to 1949 in the First Labour Government. Biography Early life and career McLagan was born in the Scottish village of Mid Calder, Midlothian, and left school at fourteen to work in the West Calder mines. He emigrated to New Zealand in 1911 and settled in Greymouth. He worked in the Grey Valley mines before briefly moving to Brunner, but he moved back to Greymouth in 1938. In 1940 he shifted again to Rangiora before finally moving to Christchurch in 1947. He was an active trade unionist all his life. In 1927 he was elected as the first Secretary of the United Mine Workers of New Zealand, holding the position until 1935. Ian McLagan
Ian Patrick McLagan (; 12 May 1945 – 3 December 2014) was an English keyboardist, best known as a member of the rock bands Small Faces and Faces. He also collaborated with the Rolling Stones and led his own band from the late 1970s. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. Early life McLagan was born at West Middlesex Hospital, Isleworth, to Alec William McLagan, of Scottish descent, and Susan (née Young), from Mountrath, County Laois. He had an elder brother, Mike. The McLagan family lived in Hounslow, West London. Alec McLagan was an enthusiastic amateur skater, having been British speed-skating champion in 1928; a photograph of him in this role features on the cover of his son's solo album, Best of British (2000). John McLagan
John James Campbell McLagan (July 22, 1838 – April 11, 1901) was a newspaper publisher born in Strathardle, Scotland. He later moved to Ontario, Canada, where he managed the ''Guelph Mercury'' with MP James Innes. After living in Winnipeg he moved to Victoria sometime in late 1883. In Victoria he dealt in real estate and filed stories with ''Toronto Globe''. From 1884 to 1888 he operated the Victoria Times. Kim McLagan
Kim McLagan (born Maryse Elizabeth Patricia Kerrigan; 30 December 1948 – 2 August 2006) was a British model during the 1960s. She was married to The Who's Keith Moon from 1966 to 1975, and to the Small Faces and Faces' Ian McLagan from 1978 to her death. Early life Kerrigan, known as "Patsy" during her youth, was born in Leicester, but moved to Malaya (now Malaysia) at the age of three months when her father, Bill, started work managing a rubber and coconut plantation. She recalled spending most of her childhood being looked after by her nanny, and consequently learned to speak Malay at the same time as English. At the age of seven, she briefly spent time in England before living in Uganda and Tanganyika, both for two years each. Peter McLagan
Peter McLagan (1823 – 31 August 1900) was a British Liberal Party (UK), Liberal Party politician who sat in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, House of Commons from 1865 to 1893. He was Scotland's first non-White and first Black MP. Life McLagan was born in Demerara in British Guiana. His father was Peter McLagan (1774–1860), and his mother was an unknown black woman. His father co-owned a sugar plantation with Samuel Sandbach. When the UK Government emancipated the slaves in the 1830s, they paid over £21,000 (£2,791,310 in 2020) in compensation to the elder McLagan and Sandbach for the legal emancipation of over 400 slaves. He left British Guiana with his father as a child and was educated in Tillicoultry and Peebles, before attending the University of Edinburgh. Sara Anne McLagan (1 April 1855 – 20 March 1924), born Sara Anne Maclure, was an Irish-born Canadian newspaper editor and clubwoman, co-founder and publisher of the ''Vancouver Daily World''. She is often described as "the first female publisher of a daily newspaper in Canada" or "the first Canadian female newspaper editor."
