McCaffrey, sometimes spelled Caffrey or McCaffery, is an Irish surname. It is found mostly in the Counties Fermanagh, Monaghan, Cavan and Tyrone in the north west of Ireland. Ballymccaffrey is a townland outside Tempo in county Fermanagh. The surname is an Anglicised form of the Gaelic names ''Mac Gafraidh'', ''Mac Gofraidh'', which mean "son of ''Gafraidh''", "son of ''Gofraidh''". Barry McCaffrey
Barry Richard McCaffrey (born 17 November 1942) is a retired United States Army general and current news commentator, professor and business consultant who served in President Bill Clinton's Cabinet as the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. He received three Purple Heart medals for injuries sustained during his service in the Vietnam War, two Silver Stars, and two Distinguished Service Crosses—the second-highest United States Army award for valor. He was inducted into United States Army Ranger Hall of Fame at the United States Army Infantry Center at Fort Benning in 2007. McCaffrey served as an adjunct professor at the United States Military Academy and was its Bradley Professor of International Security Studies from 2001 to 2008. Anne McCaffrey
Anne Inez McCaffrey (1 April 1926 – 21 November 2011) was an American writer known for the ''Dragonriders of Pern'' science fiction series. She was the first woman to win a Hugo Award for fiction (Best Novella, ''Weyr Search'', 1968) and the first to win a Nebula Award (Best Novella, ''Dragonrider'', 1969). Her 1978 novel ''The White Dragon (novel), The White Dragon'' became one of the first science-fiction books to appear on the New York Times Best Seller list, ''New York Times'' Best Seller list. Pete McCaffrey
John Paul "Pete" McCaffrey (December 24, 1938 – March 4, 2012) was an American basketball player. He played for the gold medal-winning United States men's national basketball team at the 1964 Summer Olympics. He also played for the fourth place squad at the 1963 FIBA World Championship. McCaffrey was born in Tucson, Arizona and played collegiately at Saint Louis. Later, in 1994, he was inducted into the school's hall of fame. Aside from playing for the national team, McCaffrey played in the Amateur Athletic Union, first for the Buchan Bakers and then for the Akron Goodyear Wingfoots. Stuart McCaffrey
Stuart McCaffrey (born 30 May 1979) is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a defender. Playing career McCaffrey began his career as a trainee with Hibernian, before signing for Aberdeen in July 1998. Failing to break into the Aberdeen first team, he signed on loan for Inverness Caledonian Thistle in September 2000. This was followed by a permanent contract. McCaffrey made more than 150 appearances for Inverness, and has scored five goals. He was part of the Inverness defence, playing alongside the likes of Bobby Mann, Stuart Golabek, Ross Tokely, Grant Munro and Darren Dods. Robert Elden Caffrey (born January 7, 1962) is an American former professional baseball catcher and first baseman. Career Caffrey attended Loara High School in Anaheim, California, and California State University, Fullerton, where he played college baseball for the Cal State Fullerton Titans baseball team. In the 1984 season, Fullerton won the 1984 College World Series. That year, his 28 home runs and 90 runs batted in were both the fifth-most in college baseball. Joe Caffrey (born 1966) is an English actor of theatre, television, and film. Biography Caffrey was born in the shipbuilding town of Wallsend, Northumberland. His father had worked at Swan Hunter's Shipyards and both of his grandfathers were miners.
