Mbara People
The Mbara, also known as Kumbulmara, Mitjamba, Midjamba and Kumbulara, are or were an Aboriginal Australian people of the present-day state of Queensland. They spoke the Pama–Nyungan Mbara language. Country Norman Tindale estimated Mitjamba lands as covering some , in the area of the Woolgar and Stawell rivers. Aboriginal Australians are the various indigenous peoples of the Australian mainland and many of its islands, excluding the ethnically distinct people of the Torres Strait Islands. Humans first migrated to Australia 50,000 to 65,000 years ago, and over time formed as many as 500 language-based groups. Norman Tindale
Norman Barnett Tindale AO (12 October 1900 – 19 November 1993) was an Australian anthropologist, archaeologist, entomologist and ethnologist. He is best remembered for his work mapping the various tribal groupings of Aboriginal Australians at the time of European settlement, shown in his map published in 1940. This map provided the basis of a map published by David Horton in 1996 and widely used in its online form today. Tindale's major work was ''Aboriginal Tribes of Australia: Their terrain, Environmental Controls, Distribution, Limits and Proper Names'' (1974). Life Tindale was born on 12 October 1900 in Perth, Western Australia. His family moved to Tokyo and lived there from 1907 to 1915, where his father worked as an accountant at the Salvation Army mission in Japan. Norman attended the American School in Japan, where his closest friend was Gordon Bowles, a Quaker who, like him, later became an anthropologist. Toponymy The origin of the name Richmond comes from when Arthur Bundock and Walter Hayes took up land in the district which they named the Richmond Downs Pastoral Run. Gregory Range
The Gregory Range is a mountain range in Far North Queensland, Australia. Location and features Part of the Great Dividing Range, the Gregory Range lies southeast of and southwest of . The range is located in an area of ephemeral watercourses and stony sandstone ridges lightly vegetated with ''Eucalyptus miniata'', acacia and spinifex on the ridge tops. Further down the ridges areas of paperbark are found. The range extends approximately in an east–west direction. The southern portion forms an undulating sandstone and basalt plateau. The sandstone is of the Jurassic age (180-160 million years) while the basalt and granite dates from the Mesoproterozoic age (1.6 - 1.0 billion years). This portion is covered in open forest of Bloodwood, wattle, eucalypts and spear grass. The Stawall River flows south from the range and is a tributary of the Flinders River.
