''Māyāvi'' is a Malayalam language, Malayalam comic strip appearing in the Indian comic magazine ''Balarama Comics, Balarama'' owned by Malayala Manorama, MM Publications. The series, was first published in the August 1984 issue of Balarama. Artist M. Mohandas gradually took over the drawing of the series after Balarama became a fortnightly. Māyāvi, the protagonist in the series, is an imp, who helps keep the forest safe from villains and dark wizards. Most of the stories revolves around how two dark magicians and their companions try to capture Māyāvi, but fail hilariously. ''Māyāvi'' takes place in a secluded forest in Kerala. It is not exactly known when the story takes place. In the local language Malayalam Māyāvi is a combination of two words (māya+āvi) when translated mean magic and spirit respectively. ''Mayavi'' (English: Mystifier) is a 2007 Indian Malayalam-language action comedy film directed by Shafi and written by the Rafi Mecartin duo, starring Mammootty in the title role with Gopika, Sai Kumar, Manoj K. ''Maayavi'' () is a 2005 Indian Tamil language, Tamil-language black comedy film directed by Singampuli that stars Suriya and Jyothika (who plays a fictional version of herself), whilst Vijayakanth makes a cameo. The film's score and soundtrack were composed by Devi Sri Prasad. The plot is loosely based on the novel ''The Fan Club'' by Irving Wallace. Plot Abhes Balayya (Suriya), the guide conman thief, is footloose and fancy-free. He and his acolyte Sathyaraj (Sathyan (Tamil actor), Sathyan) have no hangups in life.
