Maxwell Montes is a mountain range on the planet Venus, of which Skadi Mons is the List of tallest mountains in the Solar System, highest. General description Located on Ishtar Terra, the more northern of the planet's two major highlands, Maxwell Montes is high. It rises about 6.4 kilometers above and to the east (21,000 ft above, and 4 miles (6.44 km) to the east) of Lakshmi Planum, and is about long by wide. The western slopes are very steep, whereas the eastern slopes descend gradually into Fortuna Tessera. Maxwell (crater)
Maxwell is a crater on the far side of the Moon named after the physicist James C. Maxwell. It lies in the southwestern part of the larger crater Richardson. The southern part of Maxwell is overlain in turn by the partly flooded Lomonosov. Less than one crater diameter to the southwest is the larger Joliot. The surviving outer rim of Maxwell is generally uneven and ill-defined where it overlies Richardson. Only along the western edge is it fairly well organized, but even there it is worn and eroded. The interior floor is relatively level and displays patches of low-albedo material, usually an indication of basaltic lava, possibly from impact melt. However the floor is dusted with material from the ray system of Giordano Bruno, located to the north-northeast, which has lightened the surface. The southern part of the interior floor is overlain by the outer rampart Rampart may refer to: * Rampart (fortification), a defensive wall or bank around a castle, fort or settlement ... Maxwell of the Kai Iwi Cavalry, who himself sabred two and shot one of the enemy... This report omitted that the party that was attacked was made up of children aged between six and twelve who were out pig hunting. In 1883, George William Rusden published a three-volume ''History of New Zealand'', with many passages which distressed colonialists.
