Max Whittier
Mericos "Max" Whittier (1867–1925) was a pioneer in the early California oil industry and was instrumental in the development of 3 of California's billion barrel oil fields: Kern River, Midway-Sunset, and South Belridge. With his partner Burton Green and several others, Max Whittier developed the city of Beverly Hills. Early life Mericos Hector Whittier was born on March 11, 1867, to Charles G. Whittier and Ruth Keech, potato farmers in rural Aroostook County, Maine. During the Civil War, Charles G. Whittier had served in the 20th Maine Infantry Regiment, and as a member of Company C had been wounded in the fighting at Little Round Top at the Battle of Gettysburg. In the mid-19th century, the state of Maine was eager to encourage settlement of its northernmost county - Aroostook. Caribou, Maine
Caribou is the second largest city in Aroostook County, Maine, United States. Its population was 7,396 at the 2020 census. The city is a service center for the agricultural and tourism industries, and the location of a National Weather Service Forecast Office. History Lumbermen and trappers first set up camps in the area in the 1810s. The first settlers came to what is now Caribou in the 1820s. Between 1838 and 1840, the undeclared Aroostook War flared between the United States and Canada, and the Battle of Caribou occurred in December 1838. The dispute over the international boundary delayed settlement of the area until after the signing of the Webster-Ashburton Treaty in 1842. The Jerk
''The Jerk'' is a 1979 American comedy film directed by Carl Reiner and written by Steve Martin, Carl Gottlieb, and Michael Elias (from a story by Martin and Gottlieb). This was Martin's first starring role in a feature film. The film also features Bernadette Peters, M. Emmet Walsh, Catlin Adams, Maurice Evans, and Jackie Mason. Mohammed Al Fassi
Mohammed al Fassi (; 1952 – Dec. 24, 2002), at times referred to as Prince al Fassi, was a Moroccan/ Saudi businessman related by marriage to the Saudi royal family. His sister was married to Prince Turki bin Abdul Aziz, one of the brothers of Saudi King Fahd al Saud. Al Fassi's notoriety stems largely from his 1978 purchase for $2.4 million of the 38-room white-stucco Whittier Mansion on Sunset Boulevard, Beverly Hills, which he had painted an unpopular shade of green. He also had painted the publicly visible statues around the house in flesh tones, with pubic hair painted black, raising the ire of many of his neighbors. In 1979 the mansion was used as a filming location for ''The Jerk'' starring Steve Martin.
