Mauro Vigliano (born 5 August 1975) is an Argentine professional football referee. He has been a full international for FIFA since 2013. He refereed some matches in Copa Libertadores and a game between Ecuador and Peru in the 2018 Russia World Cup Qualifiers. A penalty kick (commonly known as a penalty or a spot kick) is a method of restarting play in association football, in which a player is allowed to take a single shot at the goal while it is defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. It is awarded when an offence punishable by a direct free kick is committed by a player in their own penalty area.
