Matt Robinson (American Football)
Matthew Gillette Robinson (born June 28, 1955) is an American former professional American football, football player, a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) from 1977 to 1982 for the New York Jets, Denver Broncos, and Buffalo Bills. He was later with the Jacksonville Bulls and Portland Breakers of the United States Football League (USFL) in 1984 USFL season, 1984 and 1985 USFL season, 1985, respectively. 1977 NFL Draft
The 1977 NFL draft was the procedure by which National Football League teams selected amateur college football players. It is officially known as the NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting. The draft was held May 3–4, 1977, at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City, New York. The league also held its first supplemental draft, which took place after the regular draft and before the regular season. This was the first draft in the common draft era (since 1967) with twelve rounds, five rounds fewer than the previous decade. 1977 New York Jets Season
The 1977 New York Jets season was the 18th season for the team and the 8th in the National Football League. It began with the team trying to improve upon its 3–11 record from 1976 under new head coach Walt Michaels and beginning the post-Joe Namath era.
