Matlock (1986 TV Series)
''Matlock'' is an American Mystery fiction, mystery legal drama television series created by Dean Hargrove and starring Andy Griffith in the title role of criminal defense attorney Ben Matlock. Debuting on March 3, 1986, the series aired on NBC until the sixth season finale on May 8, 1992; it was moved to American Broadcasting Company, ABC on November 5, 1992, continuing there for the remainder of its run until the series finale aired on May 7, 1995. The series was produced by The Fred Silverman Company (formerly Intermedia Entertainment Company until 1986) and Dean Hargrove Productions (formerly Strathmore Productions until 1988) in association with Viacom Productions. Richard Morris Gilliland (January 23, 1950 – March 18, 2021) was an American television and movie actor, best known as JD Shackleford in '' Designing Women'' (1986–1992). Life and career Gilliland was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to parents Richard Velton Gilliland and Betty Gene née Morris Gilliland. He attended Shawnee Mission South High School in Overland Park, Kansas, graduating in 1968. He was active in plays and musicals. He studied drama at the University of Kansas for two years before transferring to the Goodman School of Drama in Chicago. He left school his final year to become a member of the Chicago Free Street Theater. ''Walker, Texas Ranger'' is an American action fiction, action Crime drama, crime television series created by Leslie Greif and Paul Haggis.
