Kamtapur Progressive Party
Kamtapur Progressive Party (now merged with Kamtapur People's Party) was a political party in northern West Bengal, India. Atul Roy was the president of the party. The party was formed after a split from the Kamtapur People's Party, ahead of the 2006 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election. The party demanded the formation of a Kamtapur state. KPP was a part of the National Democratic Alliance. Statehood issue On the issue of the formation of a Kamtapur state, the Kamtapur Progressive Party and the Kamtapur People's Party had similar positions. Kamtapur People's Party (KPP) is a political party working in the northern parts of the Indian state of West Bengal. KPP was founded in January 1996 by Atul Roy. KPP works amongst the Rajbanshi population. KPP demands the set up of a separate Kamtapur state and recognition of the dialect of the Rajbanshi/Rajbongshi/Kamatapuri as a separate language. 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election
The 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election for 292 of the 294 constituencies in West Bengal was held between 27 March to 29 April 2021 in eight phases. Voting for the two remaining constituencies was delayed to 30 September 2021. A Legislative Assembly election was held in 2016 for the 294 seats (out of 295 seats) of the '' Vidhan Sabha'' (Vidhān Sabhā) in the state of West Bengal in India. The All India Trinamool Congress under Mamata Banerjee won 211 seats, and thus was reelected with an enhanced majority. Like in the 2011 election, the poll was held in six phases, with the first phase divided into two days. Matigara is a community development block (CD block) that forms an administrative division in the Siliguri subdivision of the Darjeeling district in the Indian state of West Bengal.
