Mathias Rüegg
Mathias Rüegg (born 8 December 1952) is a European musician, composer, and bandleader best known as founder and director of the Vienna Art Orchestra from 1977 to 2010. Biography Born in Zurich, Switzerland, son of linguist Robert Rüegg,Mathias Rüegg, ''Lettera a mia figlia sul nonno Robert'', in Robert Rüegg, ''Sulla geografia linguistica dell'italiano parlato'', Firenze, Cesati, 2016, pp. 19-22. Mathias Rüegg began playing jazz in secondary school. Trained as a schoolteacher, he taught for a while in special-needs schools. From 1973 to 1975 he attended the Musikhochschule in Graz, Austria, studying classical composition and jazz piano. In Vienna he performed in a nightclub as a solo jazz pianist, joined later by saxophonist Wolfgang Puschnig. The duo formed the core of an ensemble that in 1977 became the Vienna Art Orchestra. Herbert Joos
Herbert Joos (; 21 March 1940 – 7 December 2019) was a German jazz trumpeter, flugelhornist, and graphic designer. He made recordings solo and in groups, especially with the Vienna Art Orchestra. In 2017, he received the Jazzpreis Baden-Württemberg for his life's work. Life and works Born in Karlsruhe, Joos learned trumpet first by self-study and then by a private teacher. He studied double bass from 1958, but then turned to flugelhorn, baritone horn, mellophone, and alphorn. Since the mid-1960s, he has been a member of ''Modern Jazz quintet Karlsruhe'', from which the group ''Fourmenonly'' was created (with Wilfried Eichhorn and ).
