Mary Percy, Countess of Northumberland (''née'' Lady Mary Talbot; died 16 April 1572) was a courtier and noblewoman during the reign of Henry VIII of England. She was the daughter of George Talbot, 4th Earl of Shrewsbury. Her husband, Henry Percy, 6th Earl of Northumberland, had wished to marry Anne Boleyn instead of her. Family Mary Talbot was one of the eleven children of George Talbot, 4th Earl of Shrewsbury, and his first wife, Anne Hastings, Countess of Shrewsbury, Anne Hastings. Her paternal grandparents were John Talbot, 3rd Earl of Shrewsbury, and Catherine Stafford, daughter of Humphrey Stafford, 1st Duke of Buckingham, and Anne Neville, Duchess of Buckingham, Lady Anne Neville. Her maternal grandparents were William Hastings, 1st Baron Hastings, and Katherine Neville, Baroness Hastings, Katherine Neville, a younger sister of Richard Neville, 16th Earl of Warwick. Mary Percy (abbess)
Mary Percy (1570–1642) was an English noblewoman who founded an English Benedictine Monastery in Brussels and served as its abbess. Life Mary Percy was born on 11 June 1570, the youngest daughter of Thomas Percy, 7th Earl of Northumberland, and his wife Anne Somerset. Her father was executed for his part in the Rising of the North and her mother who had been involved, left the country with the infant Mary. Her siblings were left in England and brought up by their paternal uncle, Henry Percy, 8th Earl of Northumberland. Feeling called to religious life, she first spent some time with the Flemish Augustinian Canonesses. Finding this unsatisfactory, she decided to establish a Benedictine convent for English women. She purchased a house in Brussels and asked Benedictine nun Joanne Berkeley to be abbess. Percy was joined by her sister Gertrude and Dorothy Arundell. Dr. Mary Percy Jackson, OC, AOE (27 December 1904 – 6 May 2000) was an English medical practitioner in the Canadian province of Alberta based in Keg River and the Peace River Country for 45 years. Background Mary Evangeline Percy. was the eldest of four children. Her father, Thomas Arthur Percy, was a wool merchant and tailor in Dudley, England. Many of her family, including her mother Amy Jane Percy (née Chilton), were school teachers. Despite the family tradition of teaching, at the age of eleven she decided she wanted to be a medical doctor. No-one, including Mary herself, knows why she made this choice; her father suggested that she would have made an excellent lawyer because she argued so much.
