Harut And Marut
Harut and Marut () are a pair of angels mentioned in the Quran Surah 2:102, who teach the arts of sorcery (''siḥr'') in Babylon. According to Quranic exegesis (''tafsīr''), when Harut and Marut complained about mankinds' wickedness, they were sent to earth in order to compete against humankind in regards to obedience. After they committed various crimes, they found themselves unable to return to heaven. God offered them a choice between punishment on earth or in hell. They decided for punishment on earth, leading to their situation mentioned in the Quran. The story became subject of a theological dispute in Islam. Some Muslim theologians argue that angels could not commit sins and thus reject the story of Harut and Marut. Depending on the reading of the Quran (''Qira'at''), Harut and Marut are depicted as "two kings" instead. Maruts
In Hinduism, the Maruts (; ), also known as the Marutagana and sometimes identified with Rudras, are storm deities and sons of Rudra and Prisni. The number of Maruts varies from 27 to sixty (three times sixty in RV 8.96.8). They are very violent and aggressive, described as armed with golden weapons i.e. lightning and thunderbolts, as having iron teeth and roaring like lions, as residing in the northwest, as riding in golden chariots drawn by ruddy horses. In the Vedic mythology, the Maruts act as Indra's companions as a troop of young warriors. According to French comparative mythologist Georges Dumézil, they are cognate to the Einherjar and the Wild hunt. In Scriptures Hymn 66 of Mandala VI of the Rig Veda, the ancient collection of sacred hymns, is an eloquent account of how a natural phenomenon of a rain-storm metamorphoses into storm deities. HAL HF-24 Marut
The HAL HF-24 Marut ("Maruts, Spirit of the Tempest") is an Indian jet Fighter aircraft, fighter aircraft developed and manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) during the 1960s and early 70s. The Marut was designed by the German aeronautical engineer Kurt Tank, with the Project Engineer being George William Benjamin. The aircraft was the first Indian-developed jet fighter. On 17 June 1961, the type conducted its maiden flight; on 1 April 1967, the first production Marut was officially delivered to the IAF. While the Marut had been envisioned as a supersonic-capable interceptor aircraft, it would never manage to exceed Mach number, Mach 1.
