Martin Clarke (born ) is a British journalist. He was the driving force behind MailOnline, which he was responsible for building into the most popular newspaper website in the UK. Biography Clarke was born in 1964 or 1965. After joining the ''Daily Mail'' in 1987, he launched the ''Scottish Daily Mail'' and was its editor. He then edited ''The Scotsman'', the '' Daily Record'', and the ''Record''s sister title the '' Sunday Mail''. He was executive editor of ''The Mail on Sunday'', where he launched ''Live'' magazine. He was also launch editor of ''Standard Lite'' and ''London Lite''; both became defunct. Clarke rejoined the ''Mail'' group in 2001 as editor of ''Ireland on Sunday'', which had been bought by Associated Newspapers. He took over MailOnline in 2006. Martin Clarke (born 22 May 1967) is an Australian former professional basketball player and coach. He is the former head coach of the National Basketball League's Adelaide 36ers and was an assistant coach of the Australian Boomers at the 2012 London Olympics. In 2018, Clarke was hired as the director of the NBA Global Academy at the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence in Canberra. Playing career As a player, Clarke was a Guard who originally played for the Devonport Warriors in the Tasmanian State League in 1984. He was then offered a scholarship at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) where he played for the program's South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) team from 1985 to 1987. While attending the AIS, Clarke captained the Australian Under-19 team to fifth place at the 1987 FIBA Under-19 World Championship held in Bormio, Italy. Martin "Marty" Clarke (; born 13 November 1987) is a Gaelic and former Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL) from 2007 to 2009 and again from 2012 to 2014. Underage Clarke was an outstanding underage Gaelic football talent. He starred for Down GAA Minors, helping them to the 2005 All-Ireland Minor Football Championship and also played a large part in bringing his school (St Louis, Kilkeel), to 2 MacRory Cup finals in 2005 and 2006, and also to a MacLarnon Cup and an All Ireland Colleges 'B' title in as many years. He was part of the Down under-21 team that won an Ulster Championship in 2005. Clarke scored 3 goals and 20 points in an under 14 club game and 18 points in a schools game.
