Mark Anthony Martin (born January 9, 1959), nicknamed "the Kid", is an American former stock car racing driver. He most notably drove the No. 6 Ford Motor Company, Ford for Roush Racing for the majority of his career. From 1989 to 2009, Martin won 40 Cup Series races, 35 of which came with Roush. He is widely described and regarded by many as the greatest driver to never win a championship, finishing second in the NASCAR Cup Series standings five times, and third in the NASCAR Cup Series standings four times. Known for his longevity and endurance, Martin continued to compete for wins and championships well into his early fifties, finishing second in the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings at the age of 50. Mark Martin (born January 21, 1956) is an American cartoonist known for lighthearted humor and satire. He grew up in Leeds, Alabama. Career Martin's first major work in the 1980s was ''Gnatrat'', a parody of Batman, featuring a rat who dresses as a gnat to fight crime. He went on to work on the ''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'' series, and created "20 Nude Dancers 20," a long-running humor strip featured in ''Comics Buyer's Guide''. As an editor, Martin created the anthology ''Hyena'' and briefly oversaw a humor section in '' Heavy Metal''. He also edited the first edition of Scott McCloud's ''Understanding Comics''. Martin then moved toward working almost exclusively in children's comics, often for Nickelodeon's ''Nickelodeon Magazine'', while producing other work for his website. Mark D. Martin (born April 29, 1963) is an American jurist who served as the chief justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina from 2014 through 2019. He was appointed by North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory to become Chief Justice on September 1, 2014 upon the retirement of Sarah Parker. Martin was already running for the seat in the 2014 general election. Prior to his tenure at the North Carolina Supreme Court, Martin also served on the North Carolina Court of Appeals, and the North Carolina Superior Court. At the time of his installation in 1999, he was the youngest Supreme Court Justice in North Carolina history. He was also the youngest person ever elected to the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Mark Martin (born 18 October 1979) is a British serial killer who has been dubbed the 'Sneinton Strangler' in the media. He was issued with a whole-life tariff. Two accomplices, John Ashley and Dean Carr, helped him in two murders and they received 25-year and 14-year minimum sentences respectively. Background Martin had been an only child and he suffered extensive bullying at school due to him having a notable birthmark under his left eye. His father was imprisoned as he grew up and allegedly shared a prison with the Kray Twins. By age 16 he had become a petty criminal. He got married in his early 20s but attacked his wife violently in 2002 and they separated in 2004. By this time he was homeless and slept rough in Nottingham. Mark Martin is a British Computer Science Teacher, educational technology evangelist and founder of UK Black Tech. He was awarded an MBE in the 2019 Birthday Honours. In 2018 Martin was awarded the Diversity Champion Award at the London Tech Week TechXLR8 Awards and in 2019 was honoured by the Mayor of London for his efforts to increase diversity in technological professions.
