Mark Ferguson (born 28 February 1961) is a New Zealand-based Australian actor and television presenter. Biography Born in Sydney, Australia, Ferguson attended the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and graduated in 1981. In 1982, he played Paul Shepard in the television series '' Sons and Daughters'', played alongside Michael York in the film ''The Far Country'' and starred in ''The Sinking of the Rainbow Warrior''. Between 1992 and 1995, he portrayed twin brothers Darryl and Damian Neilson in the popular New Zealand soap opera ''Shortland Street'' and had a stint in the award-winning animation short film "When Ponds Freeze Over". In 1994, he made his first appearance in ''Hercules – The Legendary Journeys'', playing Prometheus in "Hercules and the Circle of Fire". He also had roles in the Xena television series. Mark Andrew Ferguson is a British politician, journalist, and trade unionist. He became the Labour Member of Parliament (MP) for Gateshead Central and Whickham at the 2024 general election. Early life Ferguson grew up in Gateshead, and attended Ryton Comprehensive School. He studied social and political science at Robinson College, Cambridge, and was President of the Cambridge University Students' Union (CUSU) from 2006 to 2007. Career Ferguson has worked as a journalist and trade unionist. He is a former editor of the Labour-supportive website ''LabourList''. Mark Ferguson (born 22 February 1966) is an Australian news presenter. Ferguson currently presents ''Seven News'' in Sydney on weeknights. He was previously a senior news presenter with ''Nine News Sydney'', presenting the weeknight news bulletin. Career After working with regional stations in New South Wales and Queensland, Ferguson joined the Seven Network in 1989 and reported for a number of ''Seven News'' programs, including ''11AM'' and ''Hinch''. He moved to Sydney in 1991, before moving to the Nine Network in 1992.
