Mark Edward Bailey (20 August 1951 – 22 August 2021) was a Canadian diplomat who held office as Canadian ambassador to many countries during his years of service. Education and early career Bailey graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Political Science from the University of Victoria in 1973. That same year, he joined the Canadian Department of External Affairs. Diplomatic Career Throughout his career, Bailey held several notable positions both in Canada and abroad. Mark Jeffrey Bailey (born December 13, 1954) is an American former professional football running back who played two seasons in the National Football League (NFL) for the Kansas City Chiefs. Professional career Bailey was selected 92nd overall in the 1977 NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. He played two seasons, rushing for 564 yards on 149 carries. Mark David Bailey, (born 21 November 1960) is a British academic, headteacher and former rugby union player. Since 2020, he has been Professor of Later Medieval History at the University of East Anglia. In 2019, he delivered the James Ford Lectures in British History at Oxford University, which were later published as a book, ''After the Black Death: Economy, society, and the law in fourteenth-century England''. Bailey played rugby union for Cambridge University R.U.F.C., Bedford Blues, London Wasps, and for England. He completed a doctorate at Cambridge during his playing career, and was then elected a fellow at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge in 1986 and then at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge in 1996. John Mark Bailey (born November 4, 1961) is an American former professional baseball player and coach. He played in Major League Baseball as a catcher from 1984 to 1992 for the Houston Astros and San Francisco Giants. Amateur career A native of Springfield, Missouri, Bailey graduated from Glendale High School in 1979. He played college basketball and college baseball at Southwest Missouri State University, and was twice named an NCAA Division II All-American infielder. In 1981, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League. In 1982, he helped lead SMS to the NCAA Division II baseball tournament. Bailey was selected by the Astros in the 6th round of the 1982 MLB Draft, and opted to forgo his senior year at SMS to sign professionally. Mark Bailey (born 1962) is an American conducting, conductor and baroque violist. He is the founder and artistic director of the American Baroque Orchestra. Bailey specializes in Slavic music of the 17th and 18th centuries, in addition to baroque, classical, and romantic repertoire, and was the former music director of the Yale Russian Chorus. Bailey frequently guest conducts ensembles such as the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Cappella Romana, The Portland Baroque Orchestra, and Pro Coro Canada.
