Maresha
Maresha was an Iron Age city mentioned in the Hebrew Bible, whose remains have been excavated at Tell Sandahanna (Arabic name), an Tell (archaeology), archaeological mound or 'tell' renamed after its identification to Tel Maresha (). The ancient Judahite city became Idumaean after the Siege of Jerusalem (587 BC), fall of Judah in 586 BCE, and after Alexander's conquest of the region in 332 BCE became Hellenised under the name Marisa or Marissa. The tell is situated in Israel's Shephelah region, i.e. in the foothills of the Judaean Mountains, about south of Bayt Jibrin#Roman and Byzantine periods, Beit Gubrin. Excavations revealed that Maresha was inhabited (not necessarily continuously) during the Iron Age, the Achaemenid Empire, Persian period, and the Hellenistic Palestine, Hellenistic period. Marissa, Illinois
Marissa is a village in St. Clair County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,979 at the 2010 census. History Before 1700, the Marissa area was inhabited by various Native American tribes. Among them were Kaskaskias, Peorias, Cahokias, Iroquois, and Michiganies. However, the most prevalent in the immediate area were probably the Tamaroas. It is known that just south of Marissa Cemetery, on a hill at 321 Doza Creek Road, a settlement existed as many artifacts have been recovered over the years. Also, there are still the remains of a trail that was used by the tribes as they traveled east and west. Evidence of this can still be seen just north of the dwelling at 132 Doza Creek Road. Vita Marissa (born 4 January 1981) is an Indonesian retired badminton player. Career Marissa competed in badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in mixed doubles with partner Nova Widianto. They had a bye in the first round and defeated Robert Blair (badminton), Robert Blair and Natalie Munt of Great Britain in the second. In the quarterfinals, Marissa and Widianto lost to Jens Eriksen and Mette Schjoldager of Denmark 15–12, 15–8. In September 2008 Marissa and her new partner Muhammad Rijal won in mixed doubles at the Japan Open (badminton), Japan Super Series after beating Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir 14–21, 21–15, 21–19 in the all Indonesian final. In early 2009, she resigned from the Indonesia National Team and is no longer a PBSI player.
