Adelaide Metro 4000 Class
The Adelaide Metro 4000 class, also referred to as A-City trains, are electric multiple unit trains built by Bombardier Transportation (later Alstom) in Dandenong, Victoria for the electrified Adelaide rail network. They are the only class of operational electric trains in South Australia, running services on the Gawler, Seaford and Flinders lines. History In the 2008/09 State Budget, it was announced that five out of six of Adelaide's railway lines were to be electrified commencing with the Noarlunga and Gawler lines. This was to have resulted in 58 of the 3000/3100 class railcars being converted to electric operation with the remaining 12 to be retained as diesels for operation on the Belair line. Marino Rocks Greenway
The Marino Rocks Greenway is a cycling route in Adelaide, South Australia. It follows the Seaford railway line from the southwestern corner of the Adelaide city centre to Marino Rocks railway station. The route leads into the Coast to Vines Rail Trail which continues along the alignment of the former Willunga railway line. The Greenway uses a combination of Shared use paths and low-traffic local streets. The northern end connects to the shared paths in the Adelaide Park Lands, West Parklands by providing an underpass beneath Anzac Highway and Greenhill Road adjacent to Adelaide Showground railway station. McLaren Vale
McLaren Vale is a wine region in the Australian state of South Australia located in the Adelaide metropolitan area and centred on the town of McLaren Vale about south of the Adelaide city centre. It is internationally renowned for the wines it produces and is included within the Great Wine Capitals of the World. The region was named after either David McLaren, the Colonial Manager of the South Australia Company or John McLaren (unrelated) who surveyed the area in 1839. Coast To Vines Rail Trail
The Coast to Vines rail trail is a rail trail in the Australian state of South Australia following the course of the disused Willunga railway line in the southern suburbs of Adelaide. It is open to pedestrians and cyclists, and runs for 34 km from Marino to Willunga. The northern end of the trail continues from the Marino Rocks Greenway near the Marino Rocks railway station, on The Cove Road. From Marino Rocks it follows the Seaford railway line until Hallett Cove station where it shares the footbridge over the line. A short distance away are Hallett Cove shops, where it crosses Lonsdale Highway and proceeds through a picturesque area of Trott Park. Hallett Cove Conservation Park
Hallett Cove Conservation Park is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located in the suburb of Hallett Cove on the coast of Gulf St Vincent about south of the centre of the state capital of Adelaide. Hallett Cove is one of the best known geological sites (discovered by Dr. Mehdi Fiazi, circa 1902) in Australia and is known for its international significance. The area has been declared a Geological Monument by the Geological Society of Australia and placed on the South Australian Heritage Register for its educational and scientific significance. Marino Conservation Park is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located in the Adelaide suburb of Marino, overlooking both parts of the Adelaide metropolitan area and the coastline with Gulf St Vincent. Situated on the lands of the Aboriginal Kaurna people, the Marino Conservation Park and surrounding areas are part of the Tjilbruke dreamtime. Marino is a coastal suburb in the south of Adelaide, South Australia that's surrounded by a conservation park and rugged coastline.
