''Marigold Sky'' is the fifteenth studio album by American pop music duo Hall & Oates. The album was released on September 30, 1997, by Push Records. It reached #95 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and #179 on the UK Albums Chart. Background The album features their US Adult Contemporary Top Ten hit, "Promise Ain't Enough", which became one of their biggest hits in some continents notably South America and Southeast Asia. This album also marks their first new release of original material since 1990's '' Change of Season''. It was their first album released as independent artists. In March 2022, Hall and Oates reissued the album on streaming, vinyl, and CD. The reissue includes three previously unissued bonus tracks. Daryl Hall & John Oates, commonly known as Hall & Oates, were an American Rock music, rock duo formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1970. Daryl Hall was generally the lead vocalist, while John Oates primarily supplied electric guitar and backing vocals. The two wrote most of the songs they performed, either separately or in collaboration. They achieved their greatest fame from the mid-1970s to the late 1980s with a fusion of rock music, soul music, and rhythm and blues. John Oates
John William Oates (born April 7, 1948) is an American musician, best known as half of the rock and soul duo Hall & Oates along with Daryl Hall. He has played rock, R&B, and soul music, serving as a guitarist, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Although Oates' primary role in the duo was being the guitarist, he also co-wrote many of the top 10 songs that they recorded, including: " Sara Smile" (referring to Hall's then-girlfriend, Sara Allen), " She's Gone", and " Out of Touch", as well as " You Make My Dreams", " I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)", " Maneater", and "Adult Education". Rob Mounsey (born December 2, 1952) is an American musician, composer, and arranger. Music career Mounsey was born in Berea, Ohio, and grew up in Seattle, Washington, spending a few years each in Findlay and Granville, Ohio. Charles DeChant (born June 10, 1945) is an American musician. He is best known for his association with Hall & Oates. Career Born in Florida on June 10, 1945, DeChant has been playing in Hall & Oates since 1976. Notable saxophone solos are heard in the songs " One on One", " Maneater," the extended version of " Say It Isn't So," and " I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)." Tom "T-Bone" Wolk (December 24, 1951 – February 28, 2010) was an American musician and bassist for the music duo Daryl Hall & John Oates and a member of the ''Saturday Night Live'' house band. Early life Wolk was born and raised in Yonkers, New York. He was a state accordion champion by age 12.
