''Mariette in Ecstasy'' is a 1991 fiction novel written by Ron Hansen (novelist), Ron Hansen. it is set in a convent in New York (state), New York in 1906. It is defined as a "wonderful and strange novel" and it is "beautifully described". In 1992 it received the Barnes and Noble Discover Award, the Commonwealth Club of California Gold Medal in Fiction and the Bay Area Book Reviewers Association 1992 Award in Fiction. In 1996 it was adapted into a film but it was never released because the production company went bankrupt. In 2009, it was adapted for the stage and produced at Lifeline Theatre in Chicago. Ron Hansen (novelist)
Ron Hansen (born December 8, 1947) is an American novelist, essayist, and professor. He is known for writing literary westerns exploring the people and history of the American heartland, notably ''The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford'' (1983), which was adapted into an acclaimed film. Biography Ron Hansen was born in Omaha, Nebraska and reared as Catholic. He attended a Jesuit high school, Creighton Preparatory School, and earned a Bachelor's degree in English from Creighton University in Omaha in 1970. Following military service, he earned an M.F.A. from the Iowa Writers' Workshop in 1974 and held a Wallace Stegner Creative Writing Fellowship at Stanford University. John Bailey (cinematographer)
John Ira Bailey, (born August 10, 1942) is an American cinematographer and film director known for his collaborations with directors Paul Schrader, Lawrence Kasdan, Michael Apted, and Ken Kwapis. In August 2017, Bailey was elected president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He was succeeded by casting director David Rubin in August 2019. Early life John Ira Bailey was born August 10, 1942, in Moberly, Missouri, and raised in Norwalk, California. The International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography Camerimage () is a festival dedicated to the celebration of cinematography and recognition of its creators, cinematographers. The first seven events (1993–1999) were held in Toruń, Poland. The next ten events (2000–2009) were held in Łódź. From 2010 until 2018 the festival took place in Bydgoszcz, before returning to Toruń in 2019, where it currently remains.
