Maria Fernandes (Portuguese Athlete)
Maria Fernandes (born 27 April 1969) is a Paralympic athlete from Portugal. She mainly competes in category T38 sprint events. Fernandes competed in the 2000 Summer Paralympics in Sydney, Australia. There she won a bronze medal in the women's 400 metres - T38 event, finished fifth in the women's 100 metres - T38 event and finished seventh in the women's 200 metres - T38 event. She also competed at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China, where she went out in the first round of the women's 100 metres - T38 event and finished eighth in the women's 200 metres - T38 event. Maria Helena Rosas Fernandes (born 1933) is a Brazilian people, Brazilian composer, pianist, musicologist, conductor and music educator. Fernandes was born in Brazópolis in Minas Gerais state, and graduated in piano from the Brazilian Conservatory of Music of Guanabara (state), Guanabara State in piano and from the Superior School of Music Santa Marcelina in composition and conducting. After completing her studies, Fernandes worked as a choral conductor and music teacher at conservatories and published research on Music of Brazil, indigenous Brazilian music. Her works have been performed internationally and won awards including the 2006 Nancy Van de Vate International Composition Prize for Opera for ''Marília de Dirceu''. Maria Celestina Fernandes (born 12 September 1945) is an Angolan children's author. She has also written poetry and short stories, and had earlier careers as a social worker and lawyer. She has won several awards including Prémio Literário Jardim do Livro Infantil, Prémio Caxinde do Conto Infantil, and Prémio Excelência Literária (Troféu Corujão das Letras). Early life Maria Celestina Fernandes was born in Lubango on 12 September 1945, the daughter of a civil servant father. She was educated at the Salvador Correia High School in Luanda. Fernandes trained as a social worker at the Pio XII Institute of Social Work, and earned a bachelor's degree in law from the Faculty of Law of Agostinho Neto University. Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes ( zh, 文綺華) is a Macanese civil servant, currently heading the Macau government's tourism office. She is a recipient of the Medal of Merit from the Macau government, an office-holder in the Pacific Asia Travel Association, and serves on several government committees. Career Senna Fernandes worked for a year in banking before she joined the Macau government's tourism department in 1988, working initially in their marketing department, then in promotions, and later serving as deputy director.
