Margareta Louise Pitcairn Webber (17 September 1891 - 6 May 1983) was a book seller from Melbourne Australia who ran a bookstore in McEwan house for nearly 40 years, called The Bookshop of Margareta Webber. She was a respected business person, and her bookshop was frequented by notable Melbourne figures. Early life Webber was the daughter of Margaret Pitcairn, née Fairbairn, and Edwin George Webber. As a child, she would write her own stories, and bind them into books. She was educated at a private girls school in Armadale, Victoria, and some of her writings were accepted in publications. She joined an amateur singing troupe, called 'the Gipsy Rovers', when she was in her early 20s. Margareta (missionary)
Margareta (c. 1369 – c. 1414) was a Swedish Sami missionary. Between about 1388 and 1414, she travelled around Sweden asking churches for support in spreading Christianity to the Sami people. In 1389, her campaign prompted a letter from the Swedish crown and the Archbishop of Lund in support of the mission. Her role is noted as unusual because of her position as a woman and a Sami. Biography Margareta was born in Sami territory and is described as a poor woman with little education. By 1389, she was a committed Christian and had become attached to the diocese of Uppsala. The name Margareta, not a Sami name, was likely given to her after she became a Christian. Margareta Capsia (1682 – 20 June 1759) was the first professional native female artist in Finland, which during her lifetime was a part of Sweden. She mainly painted altarpieces, but was also active as a portrait painter. Biography and career Capsia was born in Sweden, the child of Gottfried Capsia and Anna Schultz. She married the priest Jacob Gavelin in Stockholm in 1719. After the Great Northern War in 1721 they moved to Vasa (Vaasa), where Margareta became known as an altarpiece painter in Ostrobothnia. In 1730, they moved to Åbo (Turku), where she became a famous artist throughout Finland, and where she eventually died. Her altarpieces were described as individual illustrations of the bible, and she was regarded as one of the best painters in the genre together with Mikael Toppelius. Margareta Bengtson (born 1966) (formerly Margareta Jalkéus, having married and divorced Real Group bandmate Anders Jalkeus) is the former soprano of The Real Group, a professional a cappella vocal jazz quintet from Sweden.
