''March of Progress'' is the ninth studio album by progressive metal band Threshold. It is the first studio album on which original lead vocalist Damian Wilson sings since his return in 2007. It is also their second album on their current label, Nuclear Blast. The limited edition includes a bonus track, "Divinity". Threshold are an English progressive metal band formed in Surrey in the late 1980s. The guitarist and producer Karl Groom has been the band's only consistent member. History 1988–1992 Threshold began their career in 1988, initially playing covers of metal groups like Ratt and Testament (band), Testament. As they continued playing together, they began to write their own songs, and eventually stopped playing covers altogether. Early recordings were released locally on cassette under the band name "If Not, Why?". They played their first gig at The Compasses in Egham, Surrey, with Jon Jeary on vocals and Ian Bennett on bass. In 1992, they signed their first record deal, and after adding vocalist Damian Wilson to the group alongside guitarists Karl Groom and Nick Midson, bassist Jon Jeary and drummer Tony Grinham, produced their first commercial recording, "Intervention," which was released on a Dutch progressive rock compilation album. Progressive metal (often shortened to prog metal) is a broad fusion music genre melding heavy metal music, heavy metal and progressive rock, combining the loud "aggression" and amplified electric guitar, guitar-driven sound of the former with the more experimental, cerebral or quasi-classical compositions of the latter. Nuclear Blast Records is a German record label with subsidiary, subsidiaries located in Germany, the United States and Brazil. It was founded in 1987 by Markus Staiger in Donzdorf. ''Dead Reckoning'' is the eighth studio album by progressive metal band Threshold. It is their first album since the departure of founding member Nick Midson and the last to feature long time vocalist Andrew "Mac" McDermott. It is also the only one to feature guest vocals (provided by Dan Swanö on two tracks) and their first album on their current label, Nuclear Blast. Damian Wilson (born 11 October 1969) is an English singer-songwriter and musician. Wilson works in the progressive metal genre and was the lead singer of Headspace (band), Headspace and Threshold (band), Threshold. He sang and toured with bands and projects for Star One (band), Star One, Ayreon, Landmarq, Praying Mantis (band), Praying Mantis and with Rick Wakeman's English Rock Ensemble. As a solo artist he has released 5 solo albums, a DVD and a retrospective compilation album. 1990 – 2000 Damian began recording music in 1991 with the band Landmarq. Karl Groom is a British guitarist and record producer. He is best known as a founding and the only constant member of the progressive metal band Threshold (band), Threshold. His production and mixing credits are mainly with progressive and power metal bands. Musician Groom is the guitarist of Threshold (band), Threshold, having formed the band in 1988. He has since produced and released twelve studio albums and is currently signed to Nuclear Blast. In addition, a live DVD entitled ''Critical Energy'' was released in 2004 whilst on the Inside Out Music label.
