Marcelo Aro
Marcelo Guilherme de Aro Ferreira (born 12 June 1987) better known as simply Marcelo Aro is a Brazilian politician and journalist. He has spent his political career representing Minas Gerais, having served as state representative since 2015. Personal life Aro was born to Jose Guilherme Ferreira Filho and Marli Aparecida de Aro. Prior to becoming a politician Aro worked as a journalist. Political career At the age of just 25, Aro was voted into the city council of his home city with 9,412 in the 2012 local election. In the 2014 Brazilian general election, Aro was elected to the federal chamber of deputies with . Aro voted in favor of the impeachment motion of then-president Dilma Rousseff. Aro would vote against a similar corruption investigation into Rousseff's successor Michel Temer, and he voted in favor of the 2017 Brazilian labor reforms. The Chamber of Deputies ( pt, Câmara dos Deputados) is a federal legislative body and the lower house of the National Congress of Brazil. The chamber comprises 513 deputies, who are elected by proportional representation to serve four-year terms. The current President of the Chamber is the Deputy Arthur Lira ( PP- AL), who was elected on 1 February 2021. Structure The number of deputies elected is proportional to the size of the population of the respective state (or of the Federal District) as of 1994. However, no delegation can be made up of less than eight or more than seventy seats. Thus the least populous state elects eight federal deputies and the most populous elects seventy. These restrictions favour the smaller states at the expense of the more populous states and so the size of the delegations is not exactly proportional to population. Cleiton Gontijo de Azevedo, often referred to as just Cleitinho (born 15 April 1982), is a Brazilian businessman, musician, and politician. He has been a senator from the state of Minas Gerais since 2023. He previously served as a state deputy in Minas Gerais, as well as a councilman in his hometown of Divinópolis. He is currently affiliated with the Republicanos. Cleitinho's brother is Eduardo Azevedo, who is currently a state deputy in Minas Gerais. In 2016, he was elected as a councilman in Divinópolis in 2016. He was elected as a state deputy as part of Cidadania with 115,492 votes. He left Cidadania in 2022 and became affiliated with the Social Christian Party (PSC) to run for the federal senate. The 2022 Minas Gerais state elections took place in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil on 2 October 2022. Voters elected a governor, vice governor, one senator, 53 representatives for the Chamber of Deputies, and 77 Legislative Assembly members. The incumbent governor, Romeu Zema, a member of the New Party, was eligible for a second term, and intended to run for reelection. For the election to the Federal Senate, the seat occupied by Alexandre Silveira, from the Social Democratic Party (PSD), was at dispute.
