Manuel Montoya Fernández
Manuel Montoya Fernández (born 18 October 1959) is the handball coach and manager. He started at the Col·legi Pare Manyanet in Barcelona. He has a PhD in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences and is a professor at the INEFc University in Barcelona. On 14 September 2018, he signed a two-year contract to coach the Romania national team, replacing Xavier Pascual Fuertes who previously resigned. In August 2019, he was dismissed as coach of Romania and replaced by Rareş Fortuneanu. On 20 July 2021, he signed a contract to coach the Iran national team. Club Balonmano Granollers, commonly known as BM Granollers, is a handball club based in Granollers, Spain. History The club was founded in 1944 and it is one of the oldest and most successful Spanish handball clubs in terms of titles won. Since its inception, the club quickly got a great competitive level. BM Granollers has competed almost every season in the top league of Spanish handball (currently Liga ASOBAL). It became the first Spanish handball club taking part in a European competition in 1959. BM Granollers won the EHF Cup Winners' Cup in 1976, so it became the first Spanish handball club winning a European title. Thanks to this history, the city of Granollers hosted the handball matches at the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games. The 2013 World Men's Handball Championship was the 23rd World Men's Handball Championship, an international handball tournament that took place in Spain from 11 to 27 January 2013. This was the first time Spain hosted the World Men's Handball Championship, becoming the twelfth country to host the competition. Spain won the title, beating Denmark in the final 35–19. It was Denmark's second final in a row. Venues Games in Madrid were scheduled to be played in the Madrid Arena but on 1 November 2012, five young people were killed in a human stampede during a Halloween party. The venue was subsequently closed because of the judicial investigation and the IHF changed the location of games to Caja Mágica. 2015 World Men's Handball Championship
The 2015 World Men's Handball Championship was the 24th staging of the World Men's Handball Championship, organised by the International Handball Federation (IHF). The final tournament was held for the first time in Qatar, from 15 January to 1 February 2015. The Qatari bid was selected over those of Norway, Poland and France after a vote by the IHF Council on 27 January 2011, in Malmö, Sweden. This was the third time that the World Championship was hosted in the Middle East And North Africa, after Egypt in 1999 and Tunisia in 2005. France won the final against Qatar 25–22 to win their fifth title, a first in handball history while Qatar won their first ever medal. Poland captured the bronze medal by defeating Spain 29–28 after extra time. Denmark secured the fifth place by winning against Croatia which finished sixth and thus had the worst result in the past 13 years of international handball competing. 2018 Asian Men's Handball Championship
The 2018 Asian Men's Handball Championship was the 18th edition of the championship held under the aegis of Asian Handball Federation. The championship was hosted at Suwon, South Korea from 18 to 28 January 2018. It acted as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2019 World Men's Handball Championship. For the first time, Australia, New Zealand and Bangladesh participated. Qatar won their third title after defeating Bahrain 33–31 in the final.
