Cinema Of Karnataka
Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Cinema of India, Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. Kannada cinema is based in Gandhi Nagar, Bengaluru. The 1934 film ''Sati Sulochana'' directed by Y. V. Rao was the first talkie film released in the Kannada language. It was also the first film starring Subbaiah Naidu and Tripuramba, and the first screened in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom. It was produced by Chamanlal Doongaji, who in 1932 founded ''South India Movietone'' in Bengaluru. Major literary works have been adapted to the Kannada screen, such as B. V. 64th National Film Awards
The 64th National Film Awards was an award ceremony during which the Directorate of Film Festivals presents its annual National Film Awards to honour the best films of 2016 in the Indian cinema. The awards were announced on 7 April 2017, and the ceremony was held on 3 May 2017. Selection process The Directorate of Film Festivals invited online entries for the first time on 16 January 2017 and the acceptable last date for entries was until 21 January 2017. Feature and Non-Feature Films certified by Central Board of Film Certification between 1 January 2016, and 31 December 2016, were eligible for the film award categories. ''Srikanta'' is a 2017 Indian Kannada-language romantic action drama film directed by Manju Swaraj and produced by M. S. Manu Gowda under the banner Mahashaila Cinebandha. ''Pushpaka Vimana'' is a 2017, Indian Kannada Drama (genre), drama film directed by S. Ravindranath, making his debut. The film stars Ramesh Aravind, acting in his 100th Kannada film, as the protagonist playing the father role. Rachita Ram and Yuvina Parthavi, Baby Yuvina Parthavi play the daughters role. Prominent Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla is seen in a song sequence, marking her re-entry to Kannada films after 18 years. The Bengaluru International Film Festival, is an annual film festival held in Bangalore, Bengaluru, the capital of the Indian States of India, state of Karnataka, which previews films of all genres, including documentaries from around the world.
