Mansoura (' , rural: ) is a city in Egypt, with a population of 960,423. It is the capital of the Dakahlia Governorate. Etymology ''Mansoura'' in Arabic means "victorious". The city is named after the El Mansoura Battle against Louis IX of France during the Seventh Crusade. History Mansoura was established in 1219 by al-Kamil of the Ayyubid dynasty upon a Phatmetic branch of the Nile on a place of several older villages like Al-Bishtamir () and Kafr al-Badamas (, from , "river,canal"). :''See Mansura (other) for other places with similar names.'' Al-Mansura ( ar, المنصورة), was a Palestinian village that was depopulated by the Israeli army during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war. In 1945, it had a population of 2,300 together with the neighboring villages of Dayr al-Qassi (also depopulated) and Fassuta. The population was predominantly Christian and most its residents live in what is now the state of Israel. It was situated on the northern end of a mountain in the Upper Galilee whose summit was behind the village to the south. It was connected to the coastal Acre-Ras al-Naqoura highway via a secondary road. Al-Mansurah Subdistrict or Al-Mansurah Nahiyah ( ar, ناحية المنصورة) is a Syrian Nahiyah (Subdistrict) located in Al-Thawrah District in Raqqa, situated south-west of Raqqa and the Euphrates river. Al-Mansura, Tiberias
Al-Mansura ( ar, المنصورة) was a Palestinian Arab village in the Tiberias Subdistrict. It was depopulated during the 1947–1948 Civil War in Mandatory Palestine on May 10, 1948. It was located 16 kilometres northwest of Tiberias. History Al-Mansura, like the rest of Palestine, was incorporated into the Ottoman Empire in 1517, and in the census of 1596, the village was located in the ''nahiya'' of Tabariyya, part of Safad Sanjak. It had a population of 16 households, all Muslim. The villagers paid a fixed tax-rate of 25% on agricultural products, including wheat, barley, rice, goats and beehives, in addition to occasional revenues; the taxes totalled 530 akçe. In 1838, el-Mansura was noted as a Druse village in the ''Esh-Shagur'' district, located between Safad, Acca and Tiberias. In 1875 Victor Guérin found the village to have 200 Druse inhabitants.
