The Mansion is located in Melbourne, Australia, at 83 Queens Road. The multi-level historic building was an electronic music venue. The Mansion was once voted No.7 in the world’s top 10 clubs. History The Mansion was originally named Clarence House and was built around the late 1800s for financier Laurence Benjamin. The residence was occupied by many famous people including William Jamieson, a civil surveyor & businessman who died at Clarence House from cancer on 8 May 1926. Musical artists / DJs Renaissance parties were held with local and international DJs every year bringing the sounds of the UK club and record label to Australia. Closure Property developers City Pacific had bought the land adjacent to The Mansion and had commissioned the Buchan Group to build an apartment complex. Renaissance (club)
Renaissance is a British electronic dance music club brand and record label. Renaissance was started by Geoff Oakes at Venue 44 in Mansfield, England in March 1992. Renaissance was Geoff Oakes' antidote to the sci-fi imagery and dressed down clubbers of the 'rave' scene. Early resident DJs at Renaissance were Ian Ossia, Sasha, John Digweed and Nigel Dawson; other DJs with long-time attachments include Dave Seaman, Nick Warren, David Morales, Anthony Pappa and Hernán Cattáneo. In 1993, Renaissance moved to a newly renovated former print works in Derby called The Conservatory. Summadayze
Summadayze was an annual Australian music festival held in the month of January. The first event occurred on 1 January 1999 at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne. It subsequently expanded into a four city festival including one in New Zealand. Summadayze was organised by Future Entertainment before it was liquidated in 2013. Summadayze was held at Doug Jennings Park on the Gold Coast in 2003. In 2004, the Summadayze festival was held in Melbourne, Gold Coast, Auckland and Perth. The 2006 event in Melbourne saw 23,000 tickets sellout for a 15-hour event. 35 drug-related arrests were made. In 2011, events were again held in Melbourne, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Perth. Future Music Festival was an annual music festival featuring Australian and international artists held in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth in Australia and as of 2012 also Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. The festival was usually held in late February - early March and has been headlined by notable acts including The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, New Order, The Stone Roses and most recently Drake. Several weeks after the 2015 edition of the festival, Mushroom Group announced their decision to scrap any future editions of the festival, however they offered hope for a new festival to take its place.
