Christopher Mannella (born June 7, 1994) is a Canadian former professional soccer player. He currently serves as the Academy Scouting Coordinator for the Philadelphia Union. Club career Toronto FC Mannella joined the youth academy of Toronto FC in 2009 to play in the Canadian Soccer League. In 2014, he was a part of the inaugural season of League1 Ontario with Toronto's senior Academy team. He was named the team's captain and made 11 appearances for the side as they captured the regular season championship. On September 14, 2014, Mannella signed a homegrown player contract with Toronto FC, making him the 10th homegrown signing in club history. Mannella was loaned to Toronto FC II on March 20, 2015 ahead of their inaugural season in the USL. He was named captain of the team upon his arrival. Enrico Pitassi Mannella (Cerignola, 31 May 1882 – Rome, 1948) was an Italian general during World War II. An artillery specialist, he was known among his colleagues as the "King of Artillerymen". Biography He was born in Cerignola, in the province of Foggia, in 1882, to Giuseppe Pitassi Mannella and Amalia Conti, the third of seventeen children. Also known as Errico, after primary school he attended classical studies in a Jesuit college in Mondragone, in the province of Caserta. At age nineteen, on 3 November 1901, he entered the Royal Military Academy of Artillery and Engineers in Turin, graduating with the rank of artillery second lieutenant, on 21 August 1904. He was promoted to lieutenant after attending the Application School in Turin, and was then assigned to the 24th Field Artillery Regiment; from 14 July 1910 he was assigned to the central artillery school in Nettuno.
