Manjula (Kannada Actress)
Honnenhalli Shivanna Manjula (8 November 1954 – 12 September 1986) was an Indian actress who acted in predominantly Kannada language films in addition to Tamil (credited as ''Kumari Manjula'') and Telugu films (credited as ''Kannada Manjula''). She was one of the most successful and prominent actresses of Kannada films in the 1970s and 1980s. She acted in more than 100 films and won several awards for her performances, including a Filmfare Award. Personal life Manjula was born to M. H. Shivanna and Deveramma in Honnenahalli, a village in Tumkur District. Her father Shivanna was a police sub inspector. She was married to film director Amrutham who worked with her in films such as ''Hudugaatada Hudugi'' and ''Kanasu Nanasu''. The couple had a son, Abhishek. Death Manjula died after suffering burns during in a kitchen fire on 19 September 1986. While initially deemed an accident, the ''Times of India'' reported the death as suicide. ''Daari Tappida Maga'' ( ) is a 1975 Indian Kannada-language drama film produced and directed by Peketi Sivaram. The film stars Dr. Rajkumar in a dual role, alongside Kalpana, Aarathi, Manjula, Jayamala, K. S. Ashwath, M. V. Rajamma and Vajramuni. The music was composed by G. K. ''Bhakta Kumbara'' ( ) is a 1974 Indian Kannada-language biographical film directed by Hunsur Krishnamurthy. The film stars Rajkumar and Leelavathi. Actress Sridevi essayed the role of Muktha Bai (as a child artist), thereby the latter making her Kannada film debut. The film was produced by N. R. Anuradha Devi under Lakshmi Film Combines. Bhakta Kumbara marked the eighth collaboration between Dr. Rajkumar and director Hunsur Krishnamurthy. The movie is based on the life of Gora Kumbhar, a potter turned into a saint who lived in the 13th and 14th centuries in Teredoki village.
