Manjhanpur is a constituency of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly covering the city of Manjhanpur in the Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh, India. Manjhanpur is one of five assembly constituencies in the Kaushambi Lok Sabha constituency. Since 2008, this assembly constituency is numbered 252 amongst 403 constituencies. Indrajit Saroj
Indrajit Saroj (born 14 January 1963) is a senior politician and National General Secretary of Samajwadi Party. He is currently Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Manjhanpur Assembly constituency. Political life Indrajit Saroj was born on 1 January 1963 in Nagreha Khurd Paschim Sharira of then Allahabad now Kaushambi district, Kaushambi. His father Maideen was a farmer. Influenced by the ideas of Babasaheb Ambedkar from his student life, Indrajit Saroj continued to participate in political activities and movements, he graduated from Allahabad University in 1985, after which he came into the main political stream and Bahujan Samaj Party inspired by Manyavar Kanshi Ram joined in. He was elected MLA for the first time from Manjhanpur in the 1996 assembly elections. He has been cabinet minister of Uttar Pradesh several times. Kaushambi District
Kaushambi district is a district in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. Manjhanpur is the district headquarters. The district was carved from Prayagraj district on 4 April 1997. Manauri Bajar connects Prayagraj and Kaushambi districts by railway over a bridge on SH-95. Manjhanpur is south-west of Prayagraj on the north bank of the Yamuna river, about from the city. It is surrounded by Chitrakoot district on the south, Pratapgarh district on the north, Prayagraj district on the east and Fatehpur district on the west. Kaushambi is part of Prayagraj division. The election to the 17th Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly was held from 11 February to 8 March 2017 in 7 phases. This election saw a voter turnout of 61.11% compared to 59.40% in the 2012 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, previous election. The Bahujan Samaj Party ( BSP) is a political party in India that was formed to represent Bahujans (literally means "community in majority"), referring to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes (OBC), along with Religious minorities in India, minorities. According to Kanshi Ram, when he founded the party in 1984, the Bahujans comprised 85 percent of India's population, but were divided into 6,000 different castes.
