''Man with a Movie Camera'' is a 2003 soundtrack album by The Cinematic Orchestra, released on 26 May 2003 on Ninja Tune. The album contains re-workings and thematic reprises of some of the music from the band's previous album, 2002's '' Every Day'', including the track "Man with a Movie Camera" and an instrumental version of " All Things to All Men" entitled "All Things". ''Man with a Movie Camera'' comprises the soundtrack to a re-released version of the then ground-breaking 1929 silent documentary film of the same name from Soviet director Dziga Vertov. Overview The Cinematic Orchestra were commissioned to record the score to play as the opening event in Porto, Portugal's year as European Capital of Culture in 2001. The first live performance took place in the Coliseu do Porto theatre in May 2000 as part of that year's Porto Film Festival, and was met with a standing ovation from the audience of more than 3,500 people. Dziga Vertov (born David Abelevich Kaufman; – 12 February 1954) was a Soviet pioneer documentary film and newsreel director, as well as a cinema theorist. His filming practices and theories influenced the cinéma vérité style of documentary movie-making and the Dziga Vertov Group, a radical film-making cooperative which was active from 1968 to 1972. He was a member of the Kinoks collective, with Elizaveta Svilova and Mikhail Kaufman. In the 2012 ''Sight & Sound'' poll, critics voted Vertov's '' Man with a Movie Camera'' (1929) the eighth-greatest film ever made. At first, Team Suzaku does not have weapons because their mechanic U-Matsu forgot them. Amy delivers weapons from Velshtein, but Team Suzaku has a hard time controlling them. ''Les Stances a Sophie'' is a 1970 soundtrack album by the Art Ensemble of Chicago recorded in Paris for a French film of the same name directed by Moshé Mizrahi. It was released on the Pathé Marconi label in France and on Nessa Records in the U.S. It features performances by Lester Bowie, Joseph Jarman, Roscoe Mitchell, Malachi Favors Maghostut, Fontella Bass and Don Moye. Moshé Mizrahi commissioned the original music for the film when the band had only two weeks left on their French visas. It was reissued on CD in 2000 by Universal Sound records, mastered from a (fairly quiet) vinyl source. The Art Ensemble of Chicago is an avant-garde jazz group that grew out of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, AACM) in the late 1960s.
