Mall Del Norte
Mall del Norte is a super regional shopping mall in Laredo, Texas. The mall opened in 1977 and has since been renovated in 1991, 1993 (expansion), 2007, and 2012. It is located along Interstate 35 in the city's rapidly growing retail hub of town. Mall del Norte is with over 160 stores, making it the 2nd largest mall in South Texas, and one of the largest malls in Texas overall. La Plaza Mall in McAllen, Texas is larger by 3,000 sq. feet. In 2007, as part of the renovations of the mall, Cinemark Theater 16 and Circuit City constructed where the former Montgomery Ward store was located. The mall is currently owned by CBL & Associates Properties. On July 1, 2020, it was announced that Sears would be closing as part of a plan to close 28 stores nationwide. Laredo, Texas
Laredo ( ; ) is a city in and the county seat of Webb County, Texas, United States, on the north bank of the Rio Grande in South Texas, across from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Laredo has the distinction of flying seven flags (the flag of the former Republic of the Rio Grande, which is now the flag of the city, in addition to the Six Flags of Texas). 3 Bealls Holding Corp. was an American chain of department stores, owned by Stage Stores Inc. and headquartered in Houston, TX. The store specialized in retailing desirable brand name apparel, accessories, cosmetics, footwear, and housewares. On May 11, 2020, it was announced that Stage had filed for bankruptcy and they soon began liquidating all locations. The chain overlapped with the Florida-based Bealls chain, although the two were not related. In markets where the two chains overlapped, the Florida chain operates as Burkes Outlet instead. Mervyn's was an American middle-scale department store chain based in Hayward, California, and founded by Mervin G. Morris (1920–2021). It carried national brands of clothing, footwear, bedding, furniture, jewelry, beauty products, electronics, and housewares. Foley's was a chain of department stores owned by May Department Stores and headquartered in Downtown Houston, Texas. On August 30, 2005, the division was dissolved and operation of the stores was assumed by Federated's Macy's West and Macy's South divisions.
