A hypocorism ( or ; from Ancient Greek ; sometimes also ''hypocoristic''), or pet name, is a name used to show affection for a person. Magda Isanos (17 April 1916 – 17 November 1944) was a Romanian poet. Biography Born in Iași, her parents were Mihail Isanos and his wife Elisabeta (née Bălan), doctors at the Costiugeni psychiatric hospital near Chișinău. Elisabeta was the sister of Elena Alistar. After graduating from the Diocesan High School in Chișinău, Magda entered the law faculty of the University of Iași in 1934. While there, she was affiliated with left-wing student societies. After graduating, Isanos briefly worked as a lawyer in Iași. She was married to the writer . Isanos made her published debut in 1932, in ''Licurici'' magazine. Magdalena Maria Yvonne Tagliaferro (19 January 18939 September 1986) was a Brazilian pianist of French parentage. Magdalena Tagliaferro was born in Petrópolis, Brazil. Her father, who had studied piano with Raoul Pugno in Paris, was a voice and piano professor in São Paulo. He was her first teacher. The cellist Pablo Casals heard Tagliaferro play in São Paulo when she was eleven, and he encouraged her to study at the Conservatoire de Paris. She went to Paris with her parents.
