''Macroglossum paukstadtorum'' is a moth of the family Sphingidae. It is known from the Babar Islands The Babar Islands ''(''Indonesian: ''Kepulauan Babar)'' are located in Maluku Province, Indonesia between latitudes 7 degrees 31 minutes South to 8 degrees 13 minutes South and from longitudes 129 degrees 30 minutes East to 130 degrees 05 minutes .... It is a typical small '' Macroglossum'' species, but the colour is distinctively dull grey-brown. The forewing underside has the typical arrangement of pale and dark areas and transverse bands and lines of a small '' Macroglossum'' species, but the pattern is obscure and poorly contrasting. The Sphingidae are a family of moths ( Lepidoptera) called sphinx moths, also colloquially known as hawk moths, with many of their caterpillars known as “hornworms”; it includes about 1,450 species. Babar Islands
The Babar Islands ''(''Indonesian: ''Kepulauan Babar)'' are located in Maluku Province, Indonesia between latitudes 7 degrees 31 minutes South to 8 degrees 13 minutes South and from longitudes 129 degrees 30 minutes East to 130 degrees 05 minutes East. The group now constitutes five districts (''kecamatan'') within the Maluku Barat Daya Regency of Maluku province.
