The Macomb County Board of Commissioners is the legislative branch of the government of Macomb County, Michigan. It is composed of 13 commissioners elected to single-member districts in presidential election years; prior to the 2024 election, commissioners served two-year terms. Harold Haugh (born November 23, 1949) is a Democratic politician who currently serves on the Macomb County Board of Commissioners. Washington Charter Township, located within Metro Detroit, is a charter township of Macomb County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 28,165 at the 2020 census, up from 25,139 in 2010. History Washington Township was organized in 1827. It is home to the historic Octagon House, built by Loren Andrus from 1858 to 1860. Roseville is a city in Macomb County in the U.S. state of Michigan. A northern suburb of Detroit, Roseville is located roughly northeast of downtown Detroit. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 47,710. History The first permanent post office in the area was established in 1840 by William Rose who named it "Roseville" in honor of his father Dennison Rose, a veteran of the War of 1812. The village of Roseville was incorporated in 1926, and the municipal building was constructed in 1929 at Gratiot Avenue and Meier Road. This replaced the Erin Township Building that was built near the corner of 11 Mile Road and Gratiot in 1886. The 1929 building housed administrative offices as well as the police and fire departments until the 1960s, when separate police and fire stations were constructed. Harrison Charter Township is a charter township of Macomb County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 24,314 at the 2020 census. Harrison Township was formed in 1827 in the Michigan Territory along the shores of Lake St. Clair. The township became a charter township in 1978. Clinton Township is a charter township in Macomb County in the U.S. state of Michigan. A northern suburb of Detroit, Clinton Township is located about northeast of downtown Detroit. Utica is a city in Macomb County in the U.S. state of Michigan. Its population was 5,245 at the 2020 census, up from 4,757 in 2010. History The city now known as Utica was platted by Joseph Stead in 1829, who named it "Harlow". Others referred to the community as "Hog's Hollow" or "McDougalville", until a few years later it was named "Utica" by settlers from New York, in honor of the city of the same name in that state. New Haven, Michigan
New Haven is a village in Lenox Township within Macomb County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 6,097 at the 2020 census, up from 4,642 in 2010. History Origins and early history The first settlers in the New Haven area were chiefly the Native Americans of the Ojibwa/Cherokee tribe. The Swan Creek Chippewa is a predominant segment of the tribe. French settlers came to the area in 1835 when the first land was purchased from the federal government.
