Mabel Caparrós
Mabel Luisa Caparrós (born 9 January 1956) is an Argentine psychologist and politician, currently serving as National Deputy elected in Tierra del Fuego. Caparrós previously served as a National Senator for Tierra del Fuego from 2001 to 2007. Historically a member of the Justicialist Party, since 2019 she is a member of the FORJA Concertation Party, and currently forms part of the Frente de Todos. Early and personal life Caparrós was born on 9 January 1956 in Mar del Plata, in Buenos Aires Province. She studied psychology at the National University of Mar del Plata, graduating in 1982. In 1985 she moved to Río Grande, in Tierra del Fuego, where she worked at the Department of Minors and Families of the provincial government, and later at the Mental Health Service of Río Grande Regional Hospital. It comprises 15 legislators, elected in a single province-wide multi-member district that encompasses the entirety of the province's territory. Elective Abortion in Argentina is legal in the first 14 weeks of gestation. The abortion law was liberalized after the Voluntary Interruption of Pregnancy Bill (Argentina) was passed by the National Congress in December 2020. According to the law, any woman can request the procedure at any public or private health facility. Doctors are legally bound to either perform it or, if they are conscientious objectors, refer the patient to another physician or health facility. The Voluntary Interruption of Pregnancy Law ( es, Ley de Interrupción Voluntaria del Embarazo; IVE) was approved by the National Congress of Argentina in 2020, legalizing abortion in Argentina. Rosana Andrea Bertone (born 9 May 1972, in San Salvador, Entre Ríos) is an Argentine politician and the former Governor of Tierra del Fuego Province, serving from 2015 to 2019. Gustavo Adrián Melella (born 2 December 1970) is an Argentine politician who is the current Governor of Tierra del Fuego Province, having taken office in December 2019. He previously served as Mayor of Río Grande from 2011 to 2019. He is the first openly gay governor of an Argentine province. He belongs to the FORJA Concertation Party.
