MZ TS 250
The motorcycles of the MZ TS 250 series were built at the ''MZ Motorrad- und Zweiradwerk, VEB Motorradwerk Zschopau'' between 1973 and 1976. The manufacturer presented the newly developed TS 250 to the public for the first time at the Leipzig Trade Fair#Modern era, Leipzig Autumn Fair in 1972 and began mass production in April 1973. In June of the same year, the TS series was supplemented by the MZ TS 125/150, MZ TS 125 and TS 150. On September 1, 1976, the series production of the successor model TS 250/1 began, which featured a few changes compared to the TS 250. The motorcycle was presented at the Leipzig Autumn Fair that started on September 5, 1976. Duroplast
Duroplast is a composite thermosetting resin plastic developed by engineer Wolfgang Barthel in 1953 in the German Democratic Republic. Its production method places it in a similar family as Formica and Bakelite. It is reinforced with fibers (typically waste fabrics from the garment industry) making it a fiber-reinforced plastic similar to fiberglass. Use and composition The German Democratic Republic regularly encountered shortages of steel and had little to no iron reserves of their own. As a result, state-owned automobile manufacturer VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau instead used Duroplast to produce the body shell of the Trabant. Kick Start
Kick start is a method of starting an internal combustion engine (usually that of a motorcycle) by pushing a ratcheting lever with the rider's foot. Kick start mechanisms were almost universally a part of motorcycle engines before the mid-1970s, and were phased out of production over the next twenty years or so as electric starters became standard equipment.
