MTV Asia Awards
The MTV Asia Awards was the Asian equivalent of the European MTV EMA. Held from 2002 to 2008, the show gave recognition and awards to Asian and international artists in achievement, cinema, fashion, humanitarian, and music. Just like the EMAs, most of the awards were voted by viewers from the Asian region. The trophy design was a gold toblerone Toblerone ( , ) is a Swiss chocolate brand produced in Bern. Toblerone is known for its distinctive shape, a series of joined triangular prisms and lettering engraved in the chocolate. Since 2012, the brand has been owned by US company Mondel ...-like bar. The twin prism shape represents the letter M and double A, the acronyms for MTV Asia Awards. The show was absent in 2007 and was discontinued after 2008. MTV Asia Awards 2008
The MTV Asia Awards 2008 returned on August 2, 2008 after a one-year hiatus. The event was held at the 6,000-seat Arena of Stars in Genting Highlands, Malaysia. This was the first time the award show was held in Malaysia. This was the sixth and final MTV Asia Awards. Nominees were announced on June 14, 2008 via the channel. At the same day the MTV Asia Awards official website was also reopened. Voting commences from June 14 until July 25, 2008. Unlike previous award shows, international categories were not chosen by viewers (except for the Favorite International Artist in Asia award) and included for the first time Best Hook Up, Bring Da House Down, and the Innovation Award. Li Yuchun
Li Yuchun (; born March 10, 1984), also known by her stage name Chris Lee, is a Chinese singer, songwriter, DJ and actress. She launched her singing career by winning first place in the Chinese singing contest '' Super Girl'', in 2005. The following year, she released her debut album ''The Queen and the Dreams''. Referred to as the mother of the unisex look in China, she has achieved mainstream success. Yu·Quan () is a Chinese soft rock duet. They were founded in June 1998 as a duo between Chen Yufan (陈羽凡) and Hu Haiquan (胡海泉). They are from Beijing and Shenyang, Liaoning respectively. Both members were born in 1975. They were signed with Taiwanese music distributor Rock Records in 1999. Since then the duo has published a total of nine albums, with over seven million records sold. The duo is very well received in mainland China. In 2013, the duo competed in the first season of Chinese reality TV show called ''I Am a Singer'' (renamed ''Singer'' since 2017); the duo won the competition, and the series saw a profound success.
